Having it all is not about striving for perfection, or about living our lives according to someone else’s standards

or expectations (we’ve done that for far too long).

It’s not about working ourselves to a state of exhaustion, spreading ourselves too thin, or trading inner peace and

contentment for outer trinkets of success.

Been there. Done that too.

Having it all simply means having access to all of yourself, in any moment you choose it, and in every

aspect of life that is important to you.

Go here to learn exactly how you too, can “Have it All”’

4 Questions with christy whitman

c: how do you define your it and your all in your life?

Jack Canfield: well I think everybody’s it is different. For me it’s being able to do whatever I want to do when I want that kind of thing. And ultimately have all the resources

that I can fulfill my soul’s purpose which is to inspire and empower people to live in the highest vision in the context of love and joy. And it’s funny when you contacted me I made a list of what is my it what does all look like in and I wrote down love fun food friends travel connection adventure learning growing inner peace beauty in my home wonderful sounds to listen to great romance good sex spiritual experiences transcendent insight understanding master entertainment good wine spontaneity appreciation being supported by my staff have enough people to support me to do the work I want to do to be appreciated acknowledged and recognize my work and to be able to travel around the world and make a difference. It’s a lot of stuff, you don’t do all of that at once and it may be throughout the week but the point is that it’s a life that’s become so magical and for some people and for me I wake up every morning in a state of gratitude for having been taught by my teachers how to go and create all of that.

c: What is your core belief about yourself or the universe that allows you to have the experience of having it all?

Jack Canfield: I start out my work with self-esteem and one of my mentors was Nathaniel Brandon he said the definition of self-esteem is feeling loveable capable and

significant so if you feel lovable and you feel you are worthy of relationship and worthy of being included by other people in their lives. If you are competent you can create anything that you want in your to do something that matters to me what I’m doing I believe I can’t do that gives me the plan that I read a result but I want. I believe what I thought I may have to learn something and team up with other people know things I don’t know I may have to spend some money but the reality is that I know I have the capacity to do something. At my seminars I teach people to never say the word can’t. If someone says can you play the piano I don’t say I can’t I say I don’t know

never tired yet but I’m sure I can if I apply myself. I believe there’s nothing I can’t do I can learn to do ballet fly a plane scuba dive or whatever. With that belief I start something gather the resources I need and move forward and so far every goal I’ve ever set has been accomplished. We set a goal to sell a billion books by the year 2020 to impact a billion lives through philanthropy, television, movies and so forth. I think we’ve easily impacted a billion people by the secret and chicken soup books but we’re still shooting for that billion book sold. There’s little goals right now I weigh 209 pounds and my goal is to get down to 195 pounds. I have a big frame so it’s not like I should weigh 150. But it’s a goal I set a goal a couple of years ago to do to 100 pushups in a row. I’m constantly doing things to stretch me and build that muscle of manifestation. I muscle test at my trainings I put their arm out and I will push down on it and say resist and say something you can’t do and they say I can’t be a millionaire and they’re arm goes weak. Or I can’t sky dive and their arm goes weak. Now say I can be a millionaire and the arm stays strong. All beliefs is a choice you choose to believe it or you don’t. You say you have evidence for you believe but once you believe something you will attract evidence to prove you right. The thing I got really clear about early on and it really flipped me out was we are able to believe anything we want. Then I went nuts for 3 months and said what if I choose the wrong thing to believe. But the only thing that matters is if I choose the beliefs that will get me to where I want to go. So it’s a choice and we see that a lot of peoples believes are unconscious. But once you believe you can do it all and have it all, the truth is one of my friends is a comedian and he says you can’t have it all because where would you put it? But you can do everything you want to do at some point in your life. Any experience you want to have I believe you can create that. I think everybody can have all that they need to do all that they want to do. That’s different form having everything in the world. You can have enough money to fulfill your life, fulfill your purpose, you know to do the things you want to do. Some people like Steven Spielberg he needs a lot of money to make a movie. He needs more money than I do. So I don’t need to be a billionaire but for someone like Oprah who owns her own television network you need that money to underwrite shows and movies and so forth. I’ve always been able to manifest enough money to do what I want to do, go where I want to go, have the medical cure I want to have, to eat the organic food I want, so it’s really the key thing for people to get clear what do I want. What does my ideal life look lie? Once you’ve figured that out or decided or chose it, then it’s what do I have to create in order to produce that? That’s called enough. One of the issues as people we are reaching today is we are using more of the earth than the earth can replace itself. In terms of the amount of fish we’re taking out of the sea and the minerals we are taking from the land for our food, the water we’re polluting and so forth.

We have to revision our idea of what abundance is and move to something called efficiency because we don’t need 5 houses. You can rent a house in Hawaii for 3 weeks when you go there you don’t need a house in Palm Springs, in Hawaii, the Hamptons and New York and so forth. We have these visions of what the billionaire life style looks like and it’s on TV and in people magazine and so forth but you can have a nice car and safe transportation you can go pretty much anywhere in the world you want to go but what’s enough at least define what that is and create that for ourselves. And not hoard. When you hoard energy it stops the flow and when it stops the flow it doesn’t move through you and you can’t attract more. It’s about shepherding and stewarding more than it is about owning and collecting. I think ti was in a rolling stone song you can’t get enough of what you don’t really need. I can’t get no satisfaction. The idea is I will tell you a quick story a guy who is revising my book the success principles there’s a story about a man named Kenneth Bearing who was the owner of the Seattle Seahawsk football team worth over $600 million dollars. He wasn’t happy he said that his life went through four stages. The first stage was stuff if I have all the stuff the house the TV the car the big screen viewing room if I have the boat plane I will be happy. He wasn’t happy. He said the second stage of his life was called better stuff so we bought bigger house a bigger car and still wasn’t happy. The third stage was different stuff you said maybe I am buying the wrong kind of stuff that’s when he bought the football team which cost a lot of money. The thought know I will be happy I will sit in the owner’s box I will be on television I will be in the dressing room I will be a local celebrity but still he wasn’t happy. And then he said he entered the fourth stage of his life by accident. His friends called him and said I’m taking a private plane over to Bosnia and we are going to drop off wheelchairs to kids who lost their legs from landmines omnivore over there would like to come with me. He said sure. They gave up 40 wheelchairs that day and he was putting a child in the wheelchair a young boy about elven years old who had no legs when he went to go get a wheelchair for another child the boy wouldn’t let go of his leg. He turned around and he said through tears the boy said please don’t leave yet I want to memorize your face so when we meet again in Heaven I can thank you one more time. He said that was the first moment in my life I felt pure joy and that’s when I entered the fourth stage of my life called purpose. He said I found my purpose. He’s given over 40,000 wheelchairs away to kids in Third World countries. He’s now building wells in some of those countries to because there is not a lot of water in these African countries. As we move through Maslow’s hierarchy which people studying psychology classes we have these physiological needs for comfort food sex water heat. And then we move up to needs of a higher level of safety we want to make sure our house is safe our kids are safe our money safe our job

is safe. Then we go up to belonging needs we want to know we belong. Then we move up to esteem needs that we feel good about ourselves and then to transcendent needs of service and so forth enlightenment and all that.. So wherever you are in moving up as Maslow’s hierarchy your needs are going to be more dominant in that area of your life that’s nothing to be ashamed about that as you move up into purpose which is what we ultimately want to get to most of the other stuff falls away. You do need enough. I need enough to pay my staff have my office buy the books I want to read travel to seminars I want to attend and so forth and it do need a certain amount of money to play the game I’m playing called Jack Canfield is filling himself by doing the service but I don’t need more that.

c: When you are in a place of having it all what is that bottom line essence feeling for you?

Jack Canfield: I think it’s a combined feeling of contentment and love. I will give you an example I was literally about a month ago at a conference for a transformational

leadership Council in Croatia and it was the 10th anniversary. Afterwards a few of us went to a sailing ship with 24 cabins and they were all people I knew we got on that boat and sailed around the Croatian islands on Aegean sea and one night we went to a town called Hdar. There was a nightclub on this island called carpe Diem seize the day or night. And we rented the table which was not cheap we paid for the alcohol it was a chic place. And about 20 of us went in there we were dancing from about 10 o’clock until four in the morning. We drank alcohol and at one point it rained we were dancing in the rain because half the club was that happen outside and I’m hugging people from Russia Scotland Germany and they are saying I love you brother and I’m saying I love you to man. There was a sense of what else could I possibly have a beautiful place with people that I love and joy in my body feel love for people this common brotherhood of man people who were spiritually awake and I thought this is as good as it gets. And in that moment I had it all. I have that same feeling when I’m holding my grandson or running a workshop or the same feeling when you step off the plane in Hawaii. When I’m writing a book and it’s working. I think that sense of appreciating the moment appreciating what you have and it can be as simple as meal. It could be as simple as my wife coming out of anesthesia when she had her hip operation and saying yes she’s still with us, because it’s always a danger. It will always change

because we grow situations change needs change over time certainly my needs for fulfillment are deeper than they were when I was 20 years old. It definitely merges and I think one of the great things that I’ve learned in the last 20 years is that all suffering comes from trying to hang onto something that’s good that needs to be released were trying to push away something you don’t want to feel like grief for sadness or whatever. But if you are open to allow things to flow through your including your ideas emotions all of that which I plan to meditation and Byron Katie’s work loving what is not having to push away what isn’t and also the Sedona method where you learn to welcome whatever experience in your life it’s more Buddhist approach and not hang onto things. Even when I was in Croatia there was a certain point in the morning that it’s time to go to bed now everything has an ending to it and you have to be willing to let go of that as well including relationships jobs reputations I was known as the chicken soup guy and all of the sudden I got tired of writing chicken soup book so now I’m the success coach guy and then I will change to the leadership guy who knows and it’s always scary to let go of what you’ve been hanging onto and it’s been doing so well to you but don’t let go with that into something that is emerging you don’t grow and evolve into the next thing that you are wanting to become from some deep level inside or as Michael Beckwith says it’s God expressing himself through you as you. So as the universe evolves we are part of that evolution and we have to evolve as well.
