It allows the teacher to post the grades and the students and/or parents are able to access them as soon as they are entered into the system.

It can be used to allow the students to see their progress and ask the teacher questions if needed.

It allows the teachers to easily mark who is absent each day without having to go through the entire gradebook by hand and less time is spent with attendance.

With the help of technology, it takes much less time to calculate the final grade because the computer will do it for the teacher.

With less room for error, the computer gives the opportunity to maybe not have as many mistakes with calculations as a teacher could have if they were to do it all on their own.

How can technology be best used for keeping accurate classroom records of attendance and

grades?

It allows the teacher to email the parents at any time with any concerns or questions they may have about the child.

It will allow the parents to email the teacher if they have any questions or concerns as well.

Not only through email, but also through cell phones the teacher may be able to get a hold of the parents a lot easier instead of having to wait on a return call for the house phone.

With technology nowadays, it is just a lot easier of getting in touch with a parent instead of through a letter that may have been sent home with the student.

And it allows the teacher to have direct contact with the parent, instead of going through the child who may never tell their parents that the teacher needs to speak with them.

How can technology be used to increase communication with parents?

Teachers can implement the use of technological tools such as overhead projectors, TV, digital cameras, video, computer software, and the Internet by:

Having the support by the school (i.e.money for training, software, equipment)

Being Properly trained on how to use the tools Having the technical support when need Having confidence in using the tools Not being afraid of trying something new Once this issue is taken care of then the teacher

can decide how to use the tools.

How can teachers best implement the use of overhead projectors, TV, digital cameras, video, computer software, and the Internet in the classroom as instructional tools.

Overhead Projectors: Work with the students on solving math problems. Have visual examples of correct writing. Read with the students from the slides (sheets) on screen,

TV/Video : View education videos to enhance lesson or units Make learning videos with the students to help teach a lesson (possibly sharing on

Teacher Tube or School Tube) Use Close Caption to engage students in reading Digital Cameras: Students can take pictures to track science projects Create newsletter of events Keep journals using pictures Internet: More opportunities to access educational websites and learning games Help in research projects Blogs Emails Classroom Website Gradebooks

Here are some examples of how teachers can implement the use of technological tools such as:

Power Point: Presenting Lectures with slide shows and sound effects Present Projects in an interactive way Play learning games such as Jeopardy Excel: Create graphs to tally up items of their choice Create Charts on observations of various projects Spreadsheets Calendars Timelines-Historical Events, School Events etc.Word: Write in journals Writing projects such as: letters, advertisements, newsletters Create reports Paint Projects such as: logos, letterheads, picture, puzzles

How can Word, PowerPoint, Inspiration, and Excel be efficiently integrated into the curriculum?

When teachers have computers in the classroom for students to use, the teacher has to create a management plan. Without a management plan teacher will spend more time handling issues with students and not enough time teaching the student.

An example of a management plan with 1-5 computers will look like this: Set up computers where the teacher can easily see what the

students are working on. Introduce programs and websites to the whole class before the

students access the programs Prepare students on what you expect of them and what they

will learn Create work groups of three and assign task to each student in

group. (i.e. mouse operator, keyboard operator, Director/Recorder) Rotate every 5-7 minutes

Assign 5-6 students as monitors. These student will assist others instead of interrupting teacher

Technological Motivation Technology in the classroom is an effective tool

for getting students, especially younger students, more excited and involved in some of their classroom activities.

Learning about certain subjects that my be otherwise boring or dry will be a much more pleasurable and entertaining experience if done through the use of certain technological advances.

Now a child can play an educational video game on winning the wild west! Such an idea was unthinkable 30 years ago!

Making learning fun and enjoyable is a key component in retention and motivation to learn.

Leaps and Bounds Many students in today’s classrooms do not

speak English as their first language. It is very difficult for these students to excel and grow to their full potential in the classroom. Learning English quickly and effectively is often a difficult process for most.

However the use of certain technologies can help make that road a little easier to travel and more enjoyable for both parties; teacher and student.

There are many hands on computer programs and activities that students can use to help facilitate the learning of English, as well as programs to help teachers learn the languages of their students.

There are also countless websites on the web that are constructed to help teachers with their ESOL students. These sites may include translators or worksheet print offs for teachers and students alike, to assist in the destruction of their language barrier.
