As America's leading virtuoso guitarist. Christophe r Parkening has become a legend. Performing In the major music centers. his artistry has enthralled the musical world. He has been an active student of the guitar since the age of eleven and won his first triumphs while still In his teens. In subsequent years he took up academic and muslcal studies at the University of Southern California. He studied interpretation wtth the legendary Piatigorsky and worked with Segovia In master classes ln California and Spain.

Christopher Parkenlng's international fame has been greatly augmented by his best· selling albums for Angel Records. One of the best-selling classical albums of 1983 was his Simple Gilts . More recently, Angel recorded a Joint recllal by Parkening and Kathleen Battle at the 1984 Ravinia Festival. (The duo first performed the program at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, on the Great Performers Series.) This album has been at the top of the classical charts for much of 1986 .

Christopher Parkening recognized the obligation of the accomplished Instrumenta list to pass along the heritage of knowledge to ycunger musicians and takes the time to give master classes. He is the author of The Christopher Parkening Guitar Method, \.bl. I. which was published by Sherry-Brenner Ltd. of Chicago. The book presents the artist's personal approach after his years of study, performing and teaching.

David Brandon

David Brandon began playing gulrar at the age of eight. At 13 he attended master classes under Michael Lorimer as the youngest member of the class. Two years later, David was featured on a half-hour television series which aired on PBS nationwide. After a year of study and performances in Spain and England, David returned to the United States at the age of 17 to study extensively with Christopher Parkening at Montana State University. David was later selected as a performing student in the 1981 Andres Segovia Master Class at the University of Southern California. David and his wife Sharee now make their home In Lubbock. Texas where he operates a private studio for guitar.
