Christopher J Williams’ modest beginnings as an electrician’s son instilled his values of hard work, determination and faith in capitalism and democracy. Those values seem to be the cornerstone of the Williams Capital Group.

The Beginning

Mr. Williams was artistic as a child, which led him to take up Architecture as his major in college. Graduating with a B.A. in Architecture from the Howard University, but Christopher J. Williams always demonstrated the talent and skill required to succeed at a career in finance.

Now Christopher J. Williams is the Chairman of the Board of Overseers at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

After two years in a declining construction market, Williams adapted to the economic realities and entered Dartmouth to earn his M.B.A.

Mr. Williams began his career with Lehman Brothers in New York.

Upon leaving Lehman Brothers in 1992 as a Senior Vice President, Mr. Williams formed Williams Financial Markets, a division of Jefferies & Company.

Christopher Williams founded Williams Capital in 1994. In 2010, the firm served as lead or co-manager on nearly 200 corporate debt, agency, and equity offerings with a total face amount of over $330 billion. Williams Capital consistently ranks among the top 15 most active underwriters of corporate debt.

Both Fortune magazine and Crain’s New York Businessselected Christopher Williams as one of the most powerful minority business leaders in America.
