CHRISTMAS

TRADITIONS

in Bari

In our homes and schools,

we prepare the crib and

decorate the tree Christmas.

We exchange greetings and we

use interchange boughs of holly

with red berries , branches of

mistletoe with white berries and

poinsettias .

There are some markets in the main streets of

Bari and in some countries.

The streets are decorated with lights and Christmas decorations

On Christmas night in all the churches we pray and look forward to

the birth of Jesus. At midnight all the bells begin to ring out on the

streets and you see the fireworks.

On Christmas Eve the children receive gifts

from Santa Claus.

With family and friends to play bingo, the

game of the goose and card games table

The night between the

January 5th and 6th Befana

arrives wearing stocking

chocolates and toys to good

children.

On January 6 we celebrate Epiphany, with the arrival of the Magi to

the grotto of Bethlehem.
