In Finland, a little gnome namedJulenisse puts presents under the
tree at night. The children leave porridge out for him.
The dark cold winters inspired the tradition of Yule Log. A tree
is brought into the house and placed into the fireplace while the
rest of the tree spreads out into the room. The tree is fed into
the fireplace slowly so that it lasts throughout the Xmas season.
