CHRISTMAS TIME
IN POLAND
Christmas tradition is decorating the Christmas Tree.
The Christmas Tree was decorated with: glass balls, garlands,
ornaments, little angels, stars.
In Rybnik every year in winter there are amazing ice sculptures.
Streets were lit by coloured lamps.
The important part of the Polish Christmas is Christmas Eve.
The Christmas supper begins with the breaking of the „Opłatek”. It is a symbol of
the unity with Christ.
In 24th of December every family sit together to the Christmas supper. We usually have 12 dishes.
Christmas Eve menu usually contains: borch with mushrooms or mushroom soup,
carp or pike Polish style, stewed sauerkraut, dried fruit compote, poppy
seeds rolls, gingerbreads cookies, almond cookies.
After the meal the members of the family sing Polish Christmas Carols.
Making Christmas stables is one of
the fine tradition in polish churches .
