Traditions

Children in Ireland often put out sacks instead of stockings. Every year instead of cookies and milk kids in Ireland leave out a bottle of Guinness and mince pies. When the Christmas meal is over, milk and bread are left out and the door unlatched as a symbol of hospitality.

Irish Soda Scones

3 cup plain flour 1 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 cup of buttermilk 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon 1. stir together dry ingredient and mix lightly with hands. 2.make a hollow in the centre add enough butter milk to make a soft dough 3.thrn onto floured board and knead quickly lightly and lightly until the dough is from cracks. 4. Roll out until 1/2cm thick and cut in rounds. 5. Place on greased oven sheet and bake at 200 degrees celcius for 15 minutes.

Traditional Meal

Women bake a seed cake for each person in the house. They make three puddings one for each day of Epiphany such as Christmas, New Year’s Day, and the 12th night.
