THANK YOU: My dearest MoSt family – My heart is full to overflowing
because of the generosity of this church family. Thanks to your gener-
osity, we were able to bless the children, staff and houseparents at the
Paragould Children’s Home for the 7th year in a row. Whether you at-
tended the chili supper, made a cash gift, bought off the Amazon list,
wrapped the gifts, loaded the trailer, joined us for the party, or prayed
for the effort you were a part of this incredible undertaking. They con-
tinue to be overwhelmed by the love and support provided by the
Missouri Street Church, and I just have to tell them that I’m blown
away too. 97 of us traveled there last Sunday and I know many more
were praying over us. We played games, sang songs, ate delicious
food and worshiped together before unveiling the Christmas presents.
It was a moving time of fellowship, camaraderie and fun. I truly believe
that we were the hands of feet of Jesus. When my faith gets shaky and
I wonder if we can top what we’ve done before, you guys just show
out and pour out God’s blessings on these precious people in a way
that makes me so proud and so humbled that I almost can’t breathe.
THANK YOU. Oh, how I thank you. May you be blessed beyond meas-
ure. Acts 20:35: 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of
hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord
Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” In Him,
Lori Dale Bratton
THANK YOU: Thank you Missouri Street for your continued support of the
Children’s Home in Paragould. I was unable to attend the Christmas
party this year due to health reasons but know the children, house par-
ents and all who came from Missouri Street had a wonderful time. Sam
Jenkins

Going Deeper Through LIFE Group Discussion
ICE BREAKER: What was one of your favorite Christmas gifts?
Scripture: Luke 2:8-11 In this passage the angels tell the shep-
herds the baby they find is Christ the LORD.
What does Jesus being LORD mean to you?
Growing up, what was the authority structure like in your fami-
ly?
Why do you think so many of us struggle with surrendering to
authority?
Proverbs 3:5-6; Luke 6:46; Romans 14:7-9; Matthew 7:21-
23. These verses stress the importance of living a fully surrend-
ed life.
What are some things or areas of your life you have struggled
to fully surrender to the LORDSHIP of Christ?
Can you identify any barriers that are keeping you from sur-
rendering these areas to Christ?
Why would you think it is so important to live a fully surren-
dered life?
Who is a good example of a fully surrendered life?
In your life, would it take more faith, more trust, or obedience
for you to have a fully surrendered life?
What steps can you take to move toward a more fully surren-
dered life to Christ the LORD?

Christmas carols
“Away in a Manger”
Luke 2:8-11
(v.8) And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping
watch over their flocks at night. (v.9) An angel of the Lord appeared to
them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terri-
fied. (v.10) But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you
good news of great joy that will be for all the people. (v.11) Today in the
town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
Christ is LORD. What does it mean to "make Jesus Lord of your life?" I
have often heard that expression used in sermons when the minister is
extending the invitation. I think I know what that means, but the state-
ment, in itself, can be a bit misleading. Misleading in the sense that GOD
has already made Jesus LORD! Over 700 times in the New Testament
the phrase, "LORD Jesus," “the LORD Jesus Christ," "Jesus Christ,
LORD and Savior," or some form of that is used. Peter proclaimed on
Pentecost, "Let all Israel be assured: GOD has made this Jesus, who you
crucified, both LORD and Christ," (Acts 2:36).
In today’s message, the challenge for us will be to think more along the
lines of what it means to surrender our lives to the Lordship of Christ,
whom GOD has already made and declared "LORD!" How does the
“Lordship of Jesus” influence our decisions, behaviors and emotions? How
does surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus in our lives change our rela-
tionships (marriage, children, friends and coworkers)? May we all be
blessed today as we grow deeper in our understanding of the Lordship of
Jesus in our lives.
