“A VISITOR TO A MENTAL HOSPITAL WAS ASTONISHED TO NOTE THAT THERE WERE ONLY 3 GUARDS WATCHING OVER 100 DANGEROUS INMATES. HE ASKED HIS GUIDE, "DON’T YOU FEAR THAT THESE PEOPLE WILL OVERPOWER THE GUARDS AND ESCAPE?"

"NO," WAS THE REPLY. "LUNATICS NEVER UNITE." (author unknown)

“United We Stand” Jesus said in Mark 3:25, “A house divided against itself cannot stand…”

Unity is defined as: “oneness, a condition of harmony, accord, being in agreement, joint action.” Unity is important in every area of life: marriages, relationships, businesses, sports, government, in churches and in Christianity… And while unity is so important and urged by Christ it often seems out of reach.

“THE STORY IS TOLD OF A TIME WHEN A LITTLE CHILD IN AN AFRICAN VILLAGE WANDERED OFF INTO THE TALL JUNGLE GRASS AND COULD NOT BE FOUND. ALTHOUGH THE TRIBE LOOKED AND SEARCHED ALL DAY AND NIGHT. THE NEXT DAY THE TRIBAL MEMBERS ALL HELD HANDS AND WALKED THROUGH THE GRASS TOGETHER. THIS ENABLED THEM TO FIND THE CHILD, BUT DUE TO THE COLD NIGHT HE HAD NOT SURVIVED. IN HER ANGUISH AND THROUGH HER TEARS, THE MOTHER CRIED, "IF ONLY WE WOULD HAVE HELD HANDS SOONER..." (Author Unknown)

It is difficult to lay down all the many ideas “I have” to pick up the idea that Jesus is urging each of us to unify together. When it is all said and done, we will all find great satisfaction in the reality that we served Jesus. It is not enough that we all share a common purpose. We must all work together without hesitation to make Jesus' desires a reality. There have been many times in my life I have had to let my ideas and dreams go for a time to allow what God was clearly doing become a reality. It should be the desire of every Christian to do the same! Lets not be the church that at the end is stuck saying, “If only we would have held hands sooner…”

“United we stand; divided we fall.” "As a prisoner of the Lord, I urge you to live a life (or to walk) worthy of the calling you have received…” Ephesians 4:1

As Christians it is our calling to: Eternal Life, be clothed with Christ, being adopted as His children, forgiveness and redemption of sins, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and living together in unity. All these things, among others, carry great value and weight according to Gods Word. Blessings Chris

Christian Friends Like You… bring lots of joy! To the Dear FCC Saints – Thank you so much to our dear Christian family at the First Christian Church. The help that you gave us for our garage sale and our move from our house was wonderful and we could not have done it without you. We are sad to be leaving but we know it is only temporary compared to eternity. We will also be back through Garnett, and attend one or two services as we return from Colorado the middle of September. It will be good to see you all again at that time. Again, thank you & God bless, Ron and Darlene Jenkins

Hey, Everybody… it’s...

PASTOR BRETT

Hey Everybody! I don’t have any announcements other than Legacy has officially

kicked up! Sunday nights starting at 5 p.m. here at the church if you have junior

high or high school students send ‘em here; we’d love to have them!

Thoughts from Brett…Over the course of this last week, for whatever reason, my

heart was incredibly heavy for some of the former clients at the Rehab Center I

worked at, and one thought continuously popped up in my mind; how can people do

this life without Christ? This crooked broken path through time that we call “life”

is, at times, indescribably difficult and terrifying. These kids (who in their short

time that they’ve been walking this path have encountered something that has

broken their path so significantly they have to dull their senses to the reality that

surrounds them) time and time again run to what the world offers. People will say

that it is hard to live a life that is following Christ, the opposite is just as (if not

more) true, Life is vastly difficult without the shelter, love, and security of Christ.

The thought that was planted in my mind brought about two primary emotions;

sadness and confusion. I felt sadness, because I love these students and it breaks

my heart to see them trip over the path that is life, and confusion in regards to

the people that will willingly jump into the two different categories simultaneously.

On Sundays we decide to put on our follow Jesus clothes, we put on our follow

Jesus smile, we present our follow Jesus family, we sing the follow Jesus songs, and

we say the follow Jesus words, and when we get home we take off all of these

follow Jesus accessories and dive into the lifestyle that revolves around following

the ways of the world. You are for whatever reason deciding to take on the worst

of both worlds; the ineffectiveness of the world, and putting in the hard work of a

fake Christian.

My encouragement is that we look in the mirror and we take inventory of our

hearts, minds, and lifestyles, and come up with an unflinching conclusion as to which

side we are following; Christ, or the world. Once the inventory has been taken and

the judgment made, lets strive…with all we have to alter course, force the path of

life to fall under the umbrella of the lordship of Christ. You’ll find out that the

yoke of following Christ is immeasurably easier than the weight of the world on

your shoulders
