For many prom is an experience of a lifetime and for Nathan Arvizu, it was. He got up like any other Saturday, ate his breakfast and got ready for the days adventures, but this day was just not like any other adventure, Nathan was going to prom, and he had to plan and wait for this day. The first thing he had to get for his prom was money, and lots of it. Prom isn’t the cheapest thing in life ,Nathan states “ The prices for prom are outrageous, I spent two and half months paychecks on it” . The most expensive items were the tux and the limo. Both were around 200$ , excluding a date.

In total, with all the extra things like the ticket and the food, the whole night he spent around 500$. You may ask, did he even look forward to prom once the bill was getting higher and higher ? Nathan’s simple answer “ yes , it was a chance to hang out with my friends at an expensive outing, but the most exciting thing I looked forward to was the limo ride, the one thing worth the money”. The limo ride, in fact, was his favorite part of the night “ I always wanted to ride a limo around town and just jam out and laugh the whole way, it’s what made us in such a good mood when we were dancing “. Many were surprised with the fire and ice theme last year, some didn’t get it and others didn’t even bother to share their thought about it. Nathan on the other hand shared his opinion “ I thought it

was pretty nice with all the ice looks and the distinctions between fire and ice with

all the colors, it was just very pleasing to the eye. Nathan Arvizu went to the same prom as many others did last year but he enjoyed it and made the most of it.

PROM

Nathan did share his troubles of money, but what about girls, do they not spend a dime? In fact 40%of girls in Coronado go to two proms, meaning double the payments in dresses. 55% of girls if, having the opportunity to go to two proms, would buy two different dresses. Erica Cordero was one of the lucky

gals that got to go to two proms; her own school, Coronado, and Franklins prom. “I bought two dresses but I made a conscious decision , I decided to buy a simpler dress for the Franklin prom because there wouldn’t be many people I know and I didn’t want to stand out. But the dress I picked for Coronado’s prom was flashy and fancy, it was the most costly one between the two dresses. “

Money may be an issue to many but if you’re going with a group of friends everyone can divide the cost. If you don’t want to just be with one person on your prom night, a group of friends makes everything better. Going with friends doesn’t mean you won’t have a good time, in fact some, like Ashly Daioub, actually have more fun with a group of friends. Daioub States, “I would rather go in a group, and share memories with not just one person but with all of my friends. If you’re surrounded by friends, you don’t have to worry about anything feeling awkward like you might with just a date “.Prom means different thing to people; whether a night out with friends, a quick cash burner, or a way to look good in two dresses.

“While Prom may be expen-

sive it’s an unforget-table experience”
