Dear Friends,
July is a very important month around the parish for a number of
reasons. Since we are all on summer vacation mode, many of
our ministries slow down so that we can all take a breather, for
which we are grateful! We’ve just finished with some major
parish activities. Our Spring Fest was the most successful we’ve
ever had. The renovation of the main sanctuary was completed,
culminating in Bishop Vásquez’ consecration of the altar and
blessing of the baptismal font. And we finished another suc-
cessful Religious Education year with the children of the parish.
Another great thing about July is that it
gives our Director of Facilities, Darrell
Wallace, the chance to manage some
important projects around the parish.
We are well on the way to completely
renovating the restrooms in the Parish
Hall as well as completely renovating
the restrooms in the Day Chapel (both
of which were very much needed to say
the least). In addition, the entry way to
the Day Chapel will have a new tem-
pered glass doorway which will be open
on Sundays as an alternative entrance/exit
for your convenience. With the help of
Kyle Heitmiller and Larry Michna, we
also are nearing the completion of our par-
ish hall audio/visual package. This is go-
ing to be wonderful for all of the ministries
who use the hall for different events.
There are a couple of other Repair &
Maintenance/Capital Improvement pro-
jects that we hope to tackle this summer
too. We are currently getting bids for repairing the pot holes
and cracks in the parking lot just outside of the day chapel and
RE building as well as seal coating and re-striping. This will be
done in July and August. We are also going to construct a
dumpster enclosure just outside of the parish hall kitchen which
will be very useful in keeping that area more tidy as well as hav-
ing a storage place for trash cans and mop buckets.
All of this is what I call the Spirituality of Facilities. The Word
spoke all of existence into being out of chaos. Thus it follows
that we are charged to imitate the Word in what we do as stew-
ards of the earth. The Church is the perfect place to imitate the
Word. When we keep our place clean and orderly and beautiful
we participate in His creating essence. We do this so that we
can come here to find rest and rejuvenation in a chaotic world.
Then we are sent forth to do the work of God so as to come back
next week here to rejuvenate again. Together let’s continue to
make CTK a place of peace and order.
Have a great week!

Religious Education Spotlight
Students, last week you had to “Take a
Stand”, continue to do so and you will be-
come great Christians. Do you like to camp
or even to be outdoors? Well in a few weeks
you will be able to attend Vacation Bible
School at SONRISE National Park and Find the True Power
of Jesus’ Promises. Every day there will be a different bible
story, bible verse, and there will be amazing games, but most
of all, you will have a great time of song, snacks, and fellow-
ship. So that brings us to this week’s topic, to prepare yourself
for VBS, please read these bible stories: Matthew 4:1-11,
Mark 4:35-41, 6:30-44, 15:1-16:20, John 6:1-14, Acts 16:16-
40.
Catechist, past, current and future, you have read or even
heard the reading about the harvest in Luke, “He said to them,
"The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the
master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” In a
few weeks the harvest of our parish will be abundant, with
many returning students, but the labors will be less than last
year. Please consider in your daily prayer the calling to this
ministry, a CATECHIST. Please call or stop by the RE office,
I would like to visit with you.
Parents, the RE program is looking for a team of volunteers to
assist in any way possible as office aides which consist of
data entry, filing & talking with parents. You may even have
to substitute for a Catechist when needed. Bi-lingual is not a
requirement, but it is a plus. Please consider in your daily
prayers what role you could assist in and please stop by RE
office for more information. The RE office will be open a few
more hours during the week, so that I may be more available
to your needs. Summer hours, RE office will be closed this
week, office reopens at 4pm-6pm, July 24.25.26, VBS week
July 30 – Aug 3 4pm-8:30pm.
If you would like to purchase one or both al-
tar flower arrangements in memory of a
loved one, or to observe a special occasion,
please contact the parish office.
Helping Hands, Project Apple Tree
Is Here! This provides school clothing
and supplies for needy children that
attend the Belton School District.
Red apple tags represent a complete outfit of
new clothing (1 pair of jeans, 1 shirt, a package of underwear, pack-
age of socks and a pair of sport shoes). Yellow apple tags repre-
sent school supplies at all grade levels, pre-k through high school
seniors. It is anticipated that this year we will be handing out more
than last year’s 1,550 apples! Please return your apples no
later than the 5PM mass on Sunday, August 12th. Distribution day is August 20th. Deacon Dave and Elaine Shoe-
make will be spearheading this event, and will need as much help as
possible with transporting these to First Baptist. Sorters will be
needed the week of August 13th-17th at First Baptist. Please call the
Shoemake’s 939-3362 to put your name on the volunteer list or
email the office: [email protected].
FOURTH ANNUAL MEN'S MASS
