Greetings, Families,
I think that we all feel closer and more united for having survived our
CKS sweat lodge experience during last week’s Spring Concert! What a glori-
ous event! The community hung in there with students who rose to the occasion
midst record temperatures. A big Bravo! to Gabriel Glennie from Bishop
Blanchet High School’s Band Program. His leadership and creative teaching
made possible the beautiful music that flowed from CKS Band participants! Let
us salute as well Becky Kelly who drew beautiful and inspiring music from eve-
ry Panther. Becky will not brag about herself but deserves our congratulations
for nearing the completion of a Masters in Teaching. She consistently demon-
strates heroic determination and unwavering commitment to Catholic education.
She and her husband enroll their children in one local Catholic school, and
Becky shares her innovative teaching with both St. John and CKS. Her willing-
ness to carry so impressive a workload is truly a testament to Becky’s passion
for excellent teaching! Thanks go as well to accompanists Kristine Anderson
and Coral Sepulveda who provided loving support to each performing class.
Thanks to Lynda Lundquist and Tony Fabian, eighth grade made a good
retreat last Friday and Claudia Marberg helped the second grade celebrate a
beautiful Mass at BBHS that honored both First Communicants and our Christ
the King Parish students who will make their Confirmation on May 21st. David
Steele took grades five through eight golfing yesterday and provided a practical
look at the game through the integration of science and math principles.
Things are rockin’ and rollin ’ at CKS! Geoff Thompson’s lovingly al-
beit somewhat anonymously planted flowers grace the campus with that special
touch that says, “It is a privilege to belong to Christ the King!”

Cub Scout Information Night
Cub Scout Pack 321 invites boys in grades K through 3 (and their parents) to
attend a fun information session on Thursday, May 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in
the Broadview-Thomson School cafeteria (13052 Greenwood Ave. N.).
Cub Scouting provides a year-round program uniquely designed to meet the needs
of young boys and their families. The program offers fun and challenging
activities that promote character development and physical fitness. Boys can
begin as Tiger Cubs as they finish kindergarten and then move into the Wolf and
Bear Cub Scout programs (second and third grades, or ages 8 or 9) and the
Webelos Scouts (fourth and fifth grades, or age 10). They then transition into
Boy Scouts.
In the Chief Seattle Council, Cub Scouts and their families
participate in service projects, games, camping, and
community-centered activities. These activities guide boys
through core values and give them a sense of personal
achievement. Parents, leaders, and friends play active roles
in the program as they encourage boys to live the Cub Scout
motto of “Do Your Best.”
Pack 321 includes boys from Christ the King School, Broadview-Thomson K-8
School, and Viewlands Elementary School.
If you have any questions, please contact
Pack 321 Chairperson Bret Lynch at
[email protected] or CKS parent Tim
McMannon at [email protected]
(206-363-6073). Hope to see you there!
Also, please join Pack 321 for a
BBQ picnic at Carkeek Park
on Tuesday, June 10,
6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
(RSVP to [email protected])
