From Father Walsh - Update
Update: Beginning on Monday, June 29th at 8am, we will reopen for Daily Mass and continue throughout the week. Please call the office
to signup for a seat.
I’m happy to announce that we have reopened our parish this weekend, on the great Solemnity of
Corpus Christi, beginning with the Vigil Mass at 5:00 pm Saturday, June 13th. Please be advised that
we have had to change the Sunday Mass schedule in order to accommodate the sanitizing protocols
that have been put in place by the Diocese for the safety of all who attend. And so, after each Mass,
our ushers will be sanitizing the pews in preparation for the next mass which will require a 45 minute
process. Therefore, the new Sunday Mass schedule beginning this weekend will be as
follows: the 1st mass will begin at 7:30 am, followed by mass at 9:15 am, and then
finally mass at 11:00 am. In order to have all seated on time, we request that you arrive
at least 15 minutes prior to the start of Mass.
Moreover, we all are obligated to maintain the safety protocols mandated by the state of Connecticut
which require that each person wears a face mask and that we continue to maintain social distancing.
The pews have been specially marked to accommodate the 6’ social distancing mandate, which allows
for 48 persons to attend each Mass. If we have more than 48 requests, we will provide additional
seating in the Church Hall the following week and the Mass will be televised on the big screen. At
present, we are only planning for mass in the Church.
Now, because there is limited seating in the Church, we have established a “reservation system”. In
order to reserve a seat, simply call the parish office to request either one seat for yourself, or more
seats if you are calling on behalf of your family. Our office staff will take reservations beginning at
9:00am each Monday morning and we will continue to take reservations throughout the week during
normal business hours (Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm and Fridays 9:00 am through 1:30
pm). All those attending Mass will be given a SECTION, ROW, and SEAT number. You will enter
through the front doors of the Church and an usher will show you to your Seats. Finally, those who
approach the Sanctuary to receive Holy Communion will walk up the center aisle and sanitize their
hands at the table stationed in the middle of the center Aisle. The Diocese has provided these
procedures for the safety of all who attend Mass. Thank you for your patience, especially in these
early weeks. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the parish office anytime. We will also
post instructions on our parish website. The Mass will continue to be streamed on our website as well.
Again, many thanks!
