Religious Education News No Classes due to the

Thanksgiving Vacation

See you next week!

Pastor’s Corner Happy New Year! As you probably know, the first Sunday of Advent (and the lighting of the first candle of our wreaths) marks the beginning of our Church year.

Speaking of Advent Wreaths, last Sunday’s Advent Family gath-ering with the prayer and wreath making was a success as al-ways. Thanks to Miss Burns for all her work in pulling it together.

Thanks also to everyone who worked so hard on our parish Thanksgiving Dinner. John Taillon as coordinator and all the teams of cooks, cleaners, packers, and delivery people helped our neighbors have a more faith/food/fun filled holiday.

Doing some quick math, you’ll see that next Sunday is December 8th—the normal date of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Con-ception. For your pious planning: Immaculate Conception is bumped by a Sunday of Advent, so we’ll celebrate the former on Monday, December 9th. When this happens it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. But I still hope that you’ll join us for one of the three Masses that day—there’s no better day of the year to honor our Blessed Mother.

I hope you all have a blessed week.

-Fr. Bryan Stitt

A Retreat for Confirmation Candidates Our first year Confirma-tion candidates (mostly in 7th grade) spent a day with their peers from Gouverneur, Heuvelton, and Hammond growing in relationship with the Lord and one another. Thanks to Michele Watkins for her great job leading the day and to all involved.
