Christ-Centered Curriculum for Early Childhood Catalog Uniquely Scriptural Capturing young minds captures the future. God expects us to protect our children’s minds and hearts by diligently passing on the faith (Col. 2:8, Psalm 78:5-7). Curriculum choices can help us reach that goal, or detract from it. You see, all curriculums are inherently religious because a world view (the way we look at every- thing around us) is at the very core. Therefore, the Christian family should prayerfully select materials which pass on a thoroughly biblical world view. In the Christ-Centered Curriculum for Early Childhood program, we have not simply tacked on some Bible verses to ordinary secular courses. As fundamental skills are being taught, the content, saturated with the truths of Scripture, trains both a child’s mind and heart to view the world from God’s perspective. The “After Christ-Centered Curriculum” materials recommended for 1st through 6th grades are consistent with this philosophy. Because He has promised that His Word will not return unto Him void (Isa 55:11), we can trust that the Lord will indeed bless such faithful instruction. Academically Superior The Christ-Centered Curriculum for Early Childhood program was developed at Rocky Bayou Christian School (RBCS), in Niceville, Florida, as a result of what their kindergartners were achieving regularly — with delight! Founded in 1973, RBCS has expanded from 22 children to a student body of well over 700 (K3-12th). For over two decades, Christian home schoolers who have been using our full early childhood program have also been blessed with similar results — the high spiritual, moral, and academic development of Christ’s lambs. The “After Christ-Centered Curriculum” materials for 1st through 6th grade likewise provide a strong academic foundation. Easily Learned BETTER THAN EVER! The Christ-Centered Curriculum for Early Childhood program has been simplified even further. As of 2001, all phonics and math lessons have been revised. The Phonics Drill Charts and Spelling Rules are now in a handy 3-ring binder. The number of math charts has been reduced greatly. At the beginning of each math lesson is a “Character Training Tip” which applies one of the 10 Math Flashcards’ godly character qualities (adapted from the Institute in Basic Life Principles’ Character Sketches). Because all lesson plans provide step-by-step guidance, teaching phonics, reading, and math is a cinch — even for the novice! Once you’ve completed the early childhood materials, you should easily be able to teach the 1st through 6th grade courses. Includes 1st thru 6th Grade Materials

After Christ-Centered Curriculum

Professor B’s Math (Elementary Grades), by Professor Everard Barrett, is recommended as a follow-up to theChrist-Centered Math Program (items 400-414). Barrett’s excellent program “tells the truth” simply in all arithmetical computations without confusing, often time consuming, and meaningless steps of procedure and terminology. Facilitating children’s mastery of arithmetic is incredibly simpler whenapproached from the perspective of the Lord’s wisdom, order, and design. Well-documented studies around the world have proven the effectivenessof this program. It condenses the arithmetical content traditionally spread over 7 to 8 years of expensive textbook/workbook materials into 3 teachertexts, 3 workbooks, and a charts book. Seventh grade math is being mastered by fourth graders. Sixth graders have consistently scored higher grades againsttraditionally taught ninth graders. Uses many mental gymnastics games and fingers as comprehensive manipulatives (using a method that eliminatestraditional negatives). Allows children to progress at their own speed, quickly or slowly, as needed. Easy to use.

$%$% The purpose of Our Christian Heritage, an excellent program forGrades 1-6, is to show God’s plan for man on earth as a whole, as one plan that includes all history. World history, geography, and principles of government aretaught from the earliest days of civilization until the present. Rather than learning history as fragmentary pieces of information that provide little understandingof God’s overall plan, we want students by the end of their sixth grade year to have a solid understanding of the world God created, and how He worked His planthroughout history. We use a timeline approach that overviews history each year and teaches different aspects of history in depth. Finally, rather than keeping thestudy of government as a study of civics or political science in high school, we begin early to teach God’s purpose for government beginning with self-government (being internally controlled by God). Students are then taught a scriptural understanding of types of civil governments. Through this aspect of ourstudies, a strong emphasis on character is provided. The Teacher’s Manuals cover: target truths and principles for each section; vocabulary development; teachingstrategies for each section; principle and character trait activities; stories to emphasize geographical concepts and historical characters and ideas; ideas for skits, artwork, and composition; additional worksheets which include activities, mapwork, vocabulary, and timelines; quizzes and tests for each section. Focus is onexercising thinking skills rather than memorization. Teacher’s Manuals include 40% more hands-on materials in each book.

These pencil grips help a child hold a pencil properly and thus avoid difficult-to-correct habits. The thumb goes on the star; the index and middle fingersfit in the grooves as indented. (May be used with left-handed children by reversingthe instructions.)

Some exercises in both phonics and math use laminated visual aids which require the use of dryerase markers. Dennison Dry Erase Markers erase more quickly, have less fumes, and give betterresults than most markers. Use these markers for bold writing.

The alphabet masters may be reproduced for additional penmanship practice. (Penmanship practiceis included in the workbooks.) Numbers tracing masters should be reproduced for teaching childrenhow to write numerals 0-100. (No tracing of numerals is included in the math workbooks.)

Each letter introduces character qualities to be developed in a child’s life. Realistic illustrations.(Note: A few letters differ in printing method from that in the Christ-Centered Curriculum. Wesuggest continuing to print according to what has already been introduced.) By Andrea McLellan

Illustrated with nostalgic drawings. Contains 26 character qualities with a verse and definition tocopy, along with additional prose and Scripture. Record how the child has demonstrated the Scripturalunderstanding and character qualities in his life and showcase advanced printing or cursive writingskills. This workbook is helpful for family devotions as well. By Andrea McLellan

The Level B workbook is especially rich in scriptural truths! As children study place value, they’ll learnthat just as God designed a dwelling place for Himself amongst men (the tabernacle), He designed adwelling place for numbers. The study of fractions focuses on giving our “whole” selves, not just “part,”to Christ. As children learn about time, they’ll begin with when time began and what God has to sayabout our use of time. The study of money has its roots in the barter system in the days of Abraham, weights and measures, and finally coinage of the Old Testament. Instruction on money focuses on whatGod has to say about true “treasures.” Addition/subtraction is extended through the 18 family, using aBase 10 method.

Christ-CenteredCurriculum forEarly Childhood

Catalog

Uniquely ScripturalCapturing young minds captures the future. God expects us to protect our children’sminds and hearts by diligently passing on the faith (Col. 2:8, Psalm 78:5-7).Curriculum choices can help us reach that goal, or detract from it. You see, allcurriculums are inherently religious because a world view (the way we look at every-thing around us) is at the very core. Therefore, the Christian family should prayerfullyselect materials which pass on a thoroughly biblical world view. In the Christ-CenteredCurriculum for Early Childhood program, we have not simply tacked on some Bible versesto ordinary secular courses. As fundamental skills are being taught, the content, saturated with thetruths of Scripture, trains both a child’s mind and heart to view the world from God’s perspective. The “After Christ-Centered Curriculum” materials recommended for 1st through 6th grades are consistent with this philosophy.Because He has promised that His Word will not return unto Him void (Isa 55:11), we can trust that the Lord will indeedbless such faithful instruction.

Academically SuperiorThe Christ-Centered Curriculum for Early Childhood program was developed at Rocky Bayou Christian School (RBCS), inNiceville, Florida, as a result of what their kindergartners were achieving regularly — with delight! Founded in 1973, RBCShas expanded from 22 children to a student body of well over 700 (K3-12th). For over two decades, Christian home schoolerswho have been using our full early childhood program have also been blessed with similar results — the high spiritual, moral, and academic development of Christ’s lambs. The “After Christ-Centered Curriculum” materials for 1st through 6thgrade likewise provide a strong academic foundation.

Easily LearnedBETTER THAN EVER! The Christ-Centered Curriculum for Early Childhood program has been simplified even further. As of 2001, all phonics and math lessons have been revised. The Phonics Drill Charts and Spelling Rules are now in a handy3-ring binder. The number of math charts has been reduced greatly. At the beginning of each math lesson is a “CharacterTraining Tip” which applies one of the 10 Math Flashcards’ godly character qualities (adapted from the Institute in BasicLife Principles’ Character Sketches). Because all lesson plans provide step-by-step guidance, teaching phonics, reading, and math is a cinch — even for the novice! Once you’ve completed the early childhood materials, you should easily be ableto teach the 1st through 6th grade courses.
