1.5 Billiondisposable chopsticks are used
globally, per week.
for a 20-30 minute use, once.... and then sent to landfills
most of them traveling thousands of miles for a single use.that’s a problem.
We have a responsibility to do better.A vast amount of under-utilized resources are available,
but not designed to be part of the circular economy.
We made it our mission to work on it: we called it: urban harvesting.

Bamboo is a renewable, fast growing raw material.
What we do have, is a ridiculous amount of sushi restaurants.
Chopsticks are currently a vastly underutilized waste resource in cities around the world.
So we decided to do something about it.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t grow in North America.
Incredibly strong with unlimited applications.

Inspire locally, impact globally.
We developed product and design solutions with an innovative, high-performance material made entirely from recycled chopsticks.
Re-defining the term waste to resource.

How do we close the loop?
Managing the supply of recycled chopsticks locally, manufacturing and designing them into viable products for re-entry into the local economy.

The ChopValue Circular Economy
chopvalue.ca @chopvalue
Closing the loop, together. It goes far beyond just restaurants. Any re-purposing of our material contributes to sustainability and the circular economy by extending the life-cycle of chopsticks.
chopvalue.ca @chopvalue
Our products are a conversation piece about something much bigger. An opportunity to talk about how we all can reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a circular economy that creates a sustainable future for generations to come.
Let’s start a conversation.
Small decisions that have huge impact.
chopvalue.ca @chopvalue
We want to actively inspire others to find new ways to use neglected resources and increase resource efficiency on a global scale.
We’re in this together.
It’s not just about chopsticks.
chopvalue.ca @chopvalue
We want to change the way people look at resource availability and efficiency so they make better decisions and look at urban harvesting as something attainable.
We feel that being part of a circular economy should be the norm moving forward.

People love to throw around green buzzwords. We get it, sustainability this, green that. It’s in everyone’s messaging whether they are selling toasters, treadmills or tacos. We hate it too.
Buzz, buzz, buzzwords
However, it’s literally the very definition of what we do.

Why are we qualified to talk about this?Felix Böck knocks on wood for a living.
Founder and developer of the ChopValue micro factory concept.
PhD in Wood Engineering developing structural bamboo composites with the aim to create sustainable business opportunities.
Developing the material and machinery himself, Felix wanted to discover a way to connect his bamboo and engineering expertise directly to social impact.
Motivated to create a global mark in the bamboo industry, Felix has gained experience by supporting companies in all growth stages in over 20 countries.
His firm CrossLink Technologies, tackles global challenges on how to resource bamboo in the most sustainable way for engineered bamboo products.
ChopValue is viewed as a lean, efficient, viable business using under-utilized bamboo resources (chopsticks) as a perfect raw material.

The ChopValue story resonates.
And it’s simple.
Local micro-factories taking ownership and responsibility to tackle a problem. Thinking it through a “simple” idea all the way through its implementation.
Utilizing local resources, designers and engineers to create impact in their communities, creating jobs and boosting the local economy.
Developing a global manufacturing cluster: a global brand as backbone of shared vision, mission and ownership.
Delivering products locally. A business model that’s accessible, relatable and tangible.
