one mile or m

ore from their hom

e school.• M

iddle School: Students must live tw

o miles or m

ore from

their home school.

• High School: Bus transportation is not provided for high

school students.

How

do I find out if my student is eligible for transportation?

Call the Transportation Department (216-371-7195) w

eekdays from

6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m

. You can also search your home

address on our online Busing Eligibility Search Tool. Visit chuh.org and click on “Transportation” under the “District” tab.

When w

ill the bus begin picking up my child?

The bus will pick up your child on the first day of school if your

child is:• Returning from

last year and eligible for transportation, or• Enrolled at least one w

eek before school starts.

If your child is newly enrolled in the District it usually takes 3-4

days before a bus stop can be established. Call the Transportation Departm

ent and they will give you this inform

ation:• Date bus transportation w

ill begin,• Location of the bus stop, and• Tim

e the bus will be there.

Until you receive this information from

the Transportation Departm

ent, you are responsible for taking your child to and from

school.

Will the bus take m

y child to a daycare facility?Yes, but only if:

• Your child is in Kindergarten through fifth grade, AND

• Eligible for transportation to your home school, AN

D • The facility is one m

ile or more from

your home school.

My child attends a school through Intradistrict O

pen Enrollm

ent. Is transportation provided? Yes, but only if your child is eligible for transportation from

both your hom

e school and your school of attendance.

Kindergarten and Special N

eeds Drop O

ffIf your child is in Kindergarten or is a special needs student, the child’s parent/guardian is required to m

eet their child at the bus stop at the end of the school day. N

o Kindergarten or special needs child w

ill be dropped off at the bus stop without

a parent/guardian meeting the bus. If the child’s parent/

guardian is not at the bus stop, the child will be transported

back to his/her home school and the parent/guardian w

ill be contacted for student pick up.

Public Bus TransportationM

any high school students take the public RTA bus to school. Students can purchase bus tickets ($1.50/ride) at H

eights High,

which is on the Cedar Road #32 (east/w

assist you in reporting any wrongdoing that

impacts our schools, our students, or our staff.

To access

the Safe

School H

elpline, call

ill not be traced, and you will not be identified.

The Safe School Helpline team

will transcribe and send your

message to school officials so appropriate action can be taken.

HEALTH SERVICESA

registered nurse

is assigned

to each

school building. Nurses identify and treat

medical issues and injuries, conduct health

screenings, and support students as they self-m

onitor and manage their conditions.

When should I keep m

y child home from

school?Do not send a child to school w

ith a fever or obvious illness. H

ere are some general guidelines to keep in m

ind.• Conjunctivitis - Red, sw

ollen eyes that itch and are draining pus or have a crusty appearance. Keep hom

e until student has been on eye drops/antibiotics for 24 hours and cleared by a doctor.• Coughing - Persistent, disruptive cough.• D

iarrhea - Until diarrhea has ceased for 24 hours without

medication.

• Fever 100 degrees or higher - Until fever is below 100

degrees for 24 hours without m

edication.• Lice or N

its - Until treated and “nit free” (must be checked

by nurse before returning to classroom).

• Rash - If rash is untreated or if student is too uncomfortable

even if treated.• Strep Throat - Until student has been on antibiotics for 24 hours.• Vom

iting - Until vomiting has ceased for 24 hours w

ithout m

edication.

Comm

unicable/Contagious ConditionsIf your student is diagnosed w

ith a comm

unicable disease, keep him

/her home until the doctor clears your child to return to

school. Report all cases of comm

unicable diseases to the school office. This w

ould include, but is not limited to, any physician-

diagnosed case of COVID-19, meningitis, staph (M

RSA, VRSA), pertussis, tuberculosis, m

ononucleosis, and chicken pox.

What happens if m

y child gets sick at school?Students w

ho become ill at school are sent to the nurse’s office.

If the student has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, vomits, or

has persistent diarrhea, the nurse or principal will contact the

parent/guardian to come to school to take the student hom

e.

MEDICATION POLICYPrescription m

edications cannot be given in school w

ithout written instructions from

the student’s parent/guardian and doctor. Form

s for prescription and non-prescription m

edication are available in the school office and on the District w

ebsite by clicking on “Health Inform

ation” under the “Fam

ilies” tab.

All medication m

ust be delivered to the school in the original pharm

acy container. No m

edication is to be kept by students w

ithout permission from

the main office.

If your student has health concerns, has medication that m

ust be adm

inistered during school hours, or if you have questions, please call your school’s m

ain office and request to talk to the nurse.

FOOD SERVICESAll CH

-UH students, in every district school

building from pre-K through 12, regardless

of family incom

e level, receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at no charge each day.

CH-UH

is striving to eliminate hunger as a barrier to academ

ic success by providing this service to fam

ilies, cost-free to the district through the federal Com

munity Eligibility Provision.

A la carte items are available for purchase at the high school

and middle schools. Students m

ust pay for these items w

ith cash, check, or the pre-paid balance on their Infinite Cam

pus account. Students are not be able to “charge” for a la carte item

s. Students may also bring their ow

n lunch.

INFINITE CAMPUSInfinite Cam

pus is a secure online tool that CH

-UH schools use to track and m

anage student inform

ation. It is the official grade book for the District for all grade levels. The

Infinite Campus Parent Portal is an easy-to-use online resource

for parents. Through the Portal, parents can access their child’s attendance, grades, schedule, test scores, assignm

ents, and report cards.

It also serves as an excellent way to com

municate w

ith a student’s teachers. Fam

ilies can receive important school and

emergency-related inform

ation via phone call, text message

and email by updating their contact inform

ation in Infinite Cam

pus.

How

do I create a user account?Parents should contact their child’s school office and request an activation key code. This one-tim

e code will allow

them to

log in to the Parent Portal site. Once logged in, the website w

ill provide step-by-step instructions to guide parents through setting up an account. Parents w

ho need assistance with their

accounts should contact [email protected] for help.

SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND DELAYSPeriodically, CH

-UH schools w

ill close or delay the start of a day due to inclem

ent w

eather or other unforeseen events.

To receive

school closing

and delay

notifications, it is important for fam

ilies to have correct contact inform

ation in their Infinite Campus

accounts. This will allow

the District’s automated m

essaging system

to quickly reach you, via phone, email and text, w

ith school closing inform

ation.

Parents can check the District’s website (chuh.org) or follow

the District on Tw

itter (@CH

UHSchools) and Facebook (Facebook.

com/CH

UH.Schools) to receive instant w

eather notifications. CH

-UH w

ill also notify local TV and radio stations with school

closing information.
