Advanced Shime-Waza

Techniques for kyu grades

Kyu (Yellow) - Go Kyu

Nami Juji Jime - Normal cross choke

Tori attacks with arms crossed on the left and right deep into uke's neck, both palms facingdown. Tori pulls Uke slightly above their own elbows pressed to the sides and makes his handsinto the correct position of uke's neck. Tori finally chokes by a shearing motion of the arms and

neck-to-hand edge of the Press.

All judo chokes are running laterally to the carotid arteries. Tori must make absolutely sure notto pull uke's throat affected.

Gyaku Juji Jime - Reverse cross choke

Tori attacks with arms crossed on the left and right deep into uke's neck, both palms facing up.

Tori pulls Uke slightly above their own elbows pressed to the sides and makes his hands into the

correct position of uke's neck. Tori finally chokes by a shearing motion of the arms and neck-to-hand edge of the Press.

All judo chokes are running laterally to the carotid arteries. Tori must make absolutely sure not

Kata Juji Jime - mixing cross choking

Tori attacks with arms crossed on the left and right deep into uke's neck, one palm facing up,

one down. Tori pulls Uke slightly above their own elbows pressed to the sides and makes his

hands into the correct position of uke's neck. Tori finally chokes by a shearing motion of thearms and neck-to-hand edge of the Press.

Kyu (Orange) - Yon Kyu

Yoko Juji Jime - rolling cross choking

Tori attacks with arms crossed on the left and right collar Ukes, both palms facing down. Torisitting on uke, but overturned by uke. Tori keeps the handle, holds Uke with his feet and

choking by a shearing motion of the arms and neck-to-hand edge of the Press.

Okuri Eri Jime - choke collar

Tori uke attacks from behind. (For practice Uke kneels on the floor. Tori kneels upright behind

on his left knee and has set his right foot. Uke can tee off at Tori's right lower leg.) Tori's right

hand reaches around Uke's head around deep into uke's collar. Tori's left hand grabs uke's leftarm under Uke's right and into the collar and pushes them down. Tori gags by tightening the

collar with your right hand.

Kata Ha Jime - Arm Set

Tori kneels behind Uke and is on the right leg. Tori's right arm reaches from right to left aroundUke's neck collar Ukes. It is important to ensure that the larynx of uke to Tori's elbow shows

the choke can not be affected). Tori takes his own hand by squeezing and strangling of one'sown right arm with a simultaneous rotation to the right.

Kyu (Green) - San Kyu

Hadaka Jime - Naked Strangle

Tori attacks with his right arm around Uke's neck, so that uke's throat is Tori's right elbow

flexion. Tori puts his right hand edge in his left elbow flexion, puts his left hand back behind

Ukes head and strangled by pushing.

Tomoe Jime - circle choking

Tori handled with the right amount of uke's neck and below the left breast in uke's lapel. Torithen turns his right arm over Uke's head and strangles.

Eri Jime -

Tori uses both hands in parallel (thumbs in) in Ukes neck, the fingers back of uke's neck andturns to choke by squeezing the wrists. The handle depth must be dosed so that the grip is

formed exactly to the carotid arteries - not the top, where it is painful, but would be ineffective,

and not at the larynx, where it would be dangerous

Kensui Jime - Hanging choke

Tori holds Uke in Yoko shio gatame. Tori takes Uke's hand under uke's head and into theopposite collar, wraps his leg around uke's neck and choked by pinch with the hand and pushing

with the leg.

Hasami Jime - scissor gagging

Uke does a bank. Tori geift comes from the left, with the left hand down on uke's neck over to

the opposite collar rises, with the left leg over uke's head and between the collar and legstrangles.

Othen Jime - Bank Roll choking

Uke does a bank. Tori geift comes from the left, with the left hand down on uke's neck collar

and hooked over the opposite one with the right arm of uke's right arm. Tori's left leg hooked

one of uke's left arm. Tori then rises with the right leg over uke away, and both rolled to the

right. Tori puts his right hand back behind uke's head and places determined by uke's right arm.Tori wgt with the left hand by tightening the collar.

Sode Guruma -sleeve wheel constriction

Tori takes Uke at an angle from the right rear. His left hand reaches around Uke's head fromright to left around uke's neck, his right hand grasping uke's left to head over Uke's left in the

sleeve. The result is a Kreuzwrgegriff.

Alternate entrance: Toris right hand grabs uke's left to head over uke's left arm in, his left handfingers crossed, but still left to head over uke's left collar in Ukes. Tori swings his left forearm

clockwise around uke's head. The result is the same Kreuzwrgegriff as above (except that

Tori's left arm is up).

Kata Jime - Shoulder choking

Uke attacks Tori between its legs with his right arm. Tori pulls the attacking arm long, pinched

Ukes neck and shoulder of the attacking arm one between his calves, toes hooked into eachother and chokes between uke's shoulder and his right calf.

Ebi Jime - gagging cancer

Kreuzwrgegriff with leg.

Uke is on his back. Tori uke attacks from the right side by deep with his left hand grasps andUkes opposite collar with his right hand through uke's right knee, passes him in the neck facing.

It ensteht Kreuzwrgegriff one that is exacerbated if Uke stretches his legs for the defense.

Tsukikomi Jime - Support choking

Tori kneels on uke and strangles, as he reaches right into reverse and presses the left.Additionally, Tori pulls his left lapel down.

Kata Te Jime -

Tori holds Uke in Kuzure kami shio gatame, pulls up her legs and sits on the right. Tori pulls

Uke's head on his left leg slipped and controlling it with the left hand, Uke's upper body, left in

Ukes collar. Tori gags by tightening the collar with his left hand.

Kyu (Brown) - Ik Kyu

Kagato Jime -

Uke attacks Tori with her right hand. Tori Uke controlled between his legs. Tori takes Uke's left

with deep (as seen by Tori from) right collar, his left instep creates uke's neck and grabs Uke'scollar in with the right opposite. Tori's left foot supports Kreuzwrgegriff.

Higari Ashi Jime - Lower leg choking

Tori attacks with the left hand deep into Ukes (seen by Tori from) right collar, his left leg creates

the opposite side of Uke's neck with his right hand and grasps his own left ankle. The

stranglehold is created by pulling the left leg and left-turning the left hand.

Kami Shio Jime -

Tori holds Uke in Kami shio gatame. Tori takes Uke's hand deep into a collar and with the

opposite arm over uke's head into his own sleeve. Forces with the hand in the collar Tori Uke to

turn his head, and chokes between the hand and forearm.

Kami Shio Ashi Jime -

Tori holds Uke in Kami shio gatame as far forward that no Kami shio jime is possible. Tori

takes Uke's hand deep into a collar, the opposite of Wade sets up on uke's neck regarded, with

his free hand between his own ankle and hand and leg strangles.

Gyaku Okuri Eri Jime - Inverted choke collar

Uke does a bank. Tori kneels beside uke attacks with his left hand deep into uke's right collar,

with the right hand to Uke Uke's left collar around in and pushes it down.

Kata Ha Jime. Tori swings his right leg over his left and dive to the left with his head from leftto uke through. Uke falls to the left on the back of Tori's head and is held in this position, while

Tori tightens its stranglehold.

Uke does a bank. Tori Uke approaching from the front, reaches with his right hand loosely inUkes (seen from Tori) left to right collar and wrapped them around uke's neck. With his left

hand Tori takes Uke's right arm to the outside and puts his hand back behind uke's head to Kata

ha jime. Tori swings his left leg over his right to right, throwing uke to the right and landed withhis head on Uke to Uke to keep in the back position, while Tori tightens its stranglehold.
