What is solar power?

Solar power is a mixture of heat and light.

Solarpanels absorb light from the sun. Satellites

reflect light back to earth. Huge amount of energy comes from the sun , enough to power the whole earth for a year in

Forty five minutes.

Where is this type of power generated in New Zealand?

Solar power is mostly generated in Auckland on street lamps,

Sky scraper tops , torches , watches and solar powered calculators. The Great Bamier Island uses it with wind power to make all their electricity .

How Does This Power Generator Work? You Could Draw A Diagram.

A solar panel absorbs heat which boils a liquid and it creates steam. The steam travels through metal pipes and spins a turbine. The turbine drives a generator which creates electricity.

Could we use this type of power at school?We could use solar cells to generate power for

solar powered computers and calculators at school. We already have a solar panel with pipes through it to run our swimming pool.

Conclusion i.e. why you think this power could be used at school to run our heater.

There are lots of roofs at lynmore school so we could make lots of solar power.
