Thecurrentstudyinvolveda10-year-oldpatient
whohadbeenexperiencingconstipationfourdays
priortothechiropracticconsultation.Hermother
reportedthatherdaughterhadtheurgetoevacuate
waste,butwasunsuccessful.
Probioticsandothernaturalstoolsoftening
methodslikecastoroilandflaxseedshadnotbeen
successfulinreducingthepatient’sconstipation
symptoms.Inaddition,shehadahistoryof
nocturnalenuresiswhichdatedbacktowhenshe
startedpottytraining.
Uponexamination,thedoctorofchiropracticfound
thatthepatient’sleftlegwasshorterthanherright
leg.Thedoctorofchiropracticalsofoundspinal
misalignmentsinherneckandsacrum.Thepatient
beganchiropracticcareandherneckandsacrum
wereadjustedusingtheThompsonTechnique.
Afterherfirstvisit,thepatientwasputona
managementcareplanwhereshewasassessedone
timeweeklywithreassessmentevery12weeks
(threemonths).Shereceivedadjustmentstoher
neckandsacrumoverthefourvisitsthatfollowed.
Threedaysafterthepatient’sfirstadjustment,her
motherreportedthataboutonehourafterthe
adjustment,shehadabowelmovementwhereshe
eliminatedthewastethathadbuiltupoverafour
dayperiod.
Thepatientalsoreportedthatshewasnot
experiencinganymoresymptomsofpainand
discomfortassociatedwithconstipation.Ather
secondvisit,twoweeksafterherfirstvisit,the
patient’smotherreportedthatsinceherfirst
adjustmentthepatienthadnotwetthebedonce.
