We left Holland on Thursday the 6th and drove the 5 hours to Paris to join our friends from France and the UK on a camping site situated east of the city, close to the actual showground.. This year the French Championships were held around the time of the World Show and the French Kennel Club decided to give the opportunity to become a French champion with your dog in just 2 shows! Normally it takes more and by giving their permission they hoped for a large entry. This was certainly the case in many breeds but not in Chins. The organization made the mistake by inviting a judge who had recently judge the breed at the European Winner Show less than ½ a year prior to the World Show and I guess this has put off many exhibitors. So not a large entry but still nice to at- tend and meet up with friends from all corners of the globe. The French Championships for Toys were on Satur- day the 9th, for the World Show a day later on Sun- day the 10th. I had no Chins entered at the French Championships as I had entered my English Toy Spaniel and wanted to be able to focus on her. Judge for Chins on Saturday was Mme Céline Bot- tussi-Jocquel from France. She breeds Pekes and is seen in France as a breed specialist for Pekes and Chins. In France they judge the Chins in two weight classes and give CAC in both weights but compete for BOB. French Championships and World Dog Show 2011

From 07-10th of July the French Championships and World Dog Show were held in Paris, France. An immense event that attracted many ex-hibitors from Europe and other parts of the world. We left Holland on Thursday the 6th and drove the 5 hours to Paris to join our friends from France and the UK on a camping site situated east of the city, close to the actual showground..

Bitch CAC and Best Veteran went to bitches who were bred by or descendant from dogs of the late Pekka Jappinen. It is remarkable how much influ-ence the Fuinrando dogs of Pekka still have in the breed in Europe. I will later dive into the pedigree of the BOB of the day and you will see that in this fabulous dog Fuinrando plays an important role too.

Not many red and whites were shown. And those that were shown were all sable and whites. I think this is funny as there is still a group of breeders in Europe that try to ban the sables from the breed and go for great length to achieve this. So glad to see sable’s being showed at the World Show and win their classes. A lovely specimen was shown in the Junior Class: Zvezda Askony Akkord Ognya Hin Satori. Bred in Russia by Mrs Yaschikhina and owned by Elena Shevchenko of the Hin Satori ken-nel from St. Petersburg, Russia. This dog is sired by Elena’s CH Hin Satori Baloven Sudby, a very im-portant sable and white stud dog out of a Hin Satori bitch called Linabikari Zvezda Askony.

Gail Forsythe (Canada) and Dale Martenson (United States) had taken the time to come over and show their dogs. Mrs Forsythe showed her champion bitch Lionheart Mi Izanami and Dale Martenson showed Touche’s Top and Tails at Samskara for owners Wendy Lhote and Patrick Dewaele (France) and on Sunday CH Keepsake Little Big Man at Touche for owner Dorota Dziadkiewicz (Poland) too. Other en-tries came from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.

A dog that I recently featured For-Chin, Randalets Tomodachi (owned by Myriam Valgaeren, Belgium), won the dog CAC. Sadly he didn’t win it the second day so he will need to come back to gain his other points for the French Champion title, but still…, he is well on his way and as ever immaculately shown by his owner.

Randalets Tomodachion his way to the CAC...

The BOB went to a breathtaking dog from Russia who was entered in the Champion Class. This dog is bred in the Delis Sakura kennel of Mrs Tsygankova and shown to perfection by his owner

Natalia Morgunova, both living in Moscow.

Tosha, as he is called by his owners, carries an ex-cellent pedigree that features three of Europe’s Top Kennels: Homerbrent, Hin Satori and Fuinrando. Elena’s Hin Satori kennel has played such impor-tant role in the creation of the Russian Japanese Chin. Working with her two Japanese imports in the 80-ties, she added the Fuinrando line that carried English and USA lines in the 90-ties. Recently she added two Homerbrent imports and this succesful family tree you see in many of the Russian Chins today. Such clever woman.Looking at Tosha I must admit that I feel jelous of not breeding him myself. Size, shape and breed type in one package...

You’ve perhaps noticed that I skipped some of the Saturday Class winners but they will come back in my World Show review on the next pages...

The junior title in bitches went to my homebred girl Chinart Olga Nikolajevna. It is our 6th World Title and in Olga’s family line she is the 4th generation so she had to keep Chinart flag high, and so she did!

Not only on Saturday he won Best Junior, also on Sunday Touche’s Top and Tails won Best Junior. Im-maculately presented, a so well deserved win.

World Champion CH Lionheart Mi Izanami

Winning the CAC at the Wold Show did perhaps not give you a “world title” but it did give the possibil-ity to become a French Champion. Only one Chin achieved this during this special weekend. It was Dutch bred Nikkori Shimo Japanese Chins who won both CAC’s on offer in the +4 kg Class and who is now French Champion.

I would like to focus on two Chins who I think are realy special and dive into their pedigree. This is the Junior Winner: Touche’s Top and Tails at Samskara. I think it is quite an achievement for this little man to win twice the Junior Class. I also would like to focus on Gail Forsythe’s CH Lionheart Mi Izanami. She is such special little girl who really stood out.

Lets start with the boy... I was taken by his shape and breed type. In between the classes he stood like a statue on his Vet-bed with the Stars and Stripes of the USA flag. It was impossible not to notice that this dog was a Yankee! But looking at his pedigree...., this is not a 100% true. Also this dogs pedigree is build with the help of the Hin Satori kennel from Elena Shevchenko. Top and Tails his grandmother is Hin Satori Hikaru who is

Gail Forsythe’s bitch is a combination of the best that the UK and Finland had to offer in Chins. With the import of Lady-Nellyn Zhibui Inba she hit the jackpot winning #1 Chin Show Bitch, USA 2006, Japanese Chin Club of America and being twice Best of Opposite Sex plus Award of Merit at the JCCA Specialty USA. Mating Inba to her Am & Can Ch Homerbrent Taisetsu Na JW who was #1 Chin Canada, 2005 and a multiple group winner only seemed logical. A litter of three was the result. Izan-ami followed her illustrious parents and is a multiple toy group winner in Canada too. PLUS: she was #1 Chin female 2010, and #2 Chin 2010. She can add the World Title 2011 to this list now!She doesn’t look line bred at a first glance but when you trace down her pedigree...

The Homerbrents go back to CH Ryushu of Mat-suminesow at Amantra and when you go down the lines of Lady-Nellyn most of them go back to the same dog or his 1/2 brother CH Tatsuo of Matsum-inesow at Navron. No wonder she has style, class and breed type..., it runs in the family!

All for now. Sorry if I missed out on pictures of certain class winners but it is almost impossible to make a choice and I am grateful to Peg and Bill that they allowed 6 pages... Thanks and till next time.Take care, Peter

a daughter of Elena’s famous sable stud dog Bion-ichi Kin. The Swedish Kitteka kennel is also a well known kennel in Europe going back to the Japanese import of the Matsuminesow kennel.
