The family of a 19-year-old Hamilton man fatally shot by police two years ago has launched a $650,000 lawsuit against the Hamilton Police.Andreas Chinnery died Feb. 2, 2011 after an altercation with police inside his Barton Street East apartment. His family is asking for compensation for the loss of Chinnery, expenses as a result of his death and other unspecified economic loss.The lawsuit names Chinnery’s father, Robert Chinnery, and siblings Sacha, Stefan and Michaela Chinnery as plaintiffs. The Hamilton Police Services Board, police Chief Glenn De Caire, an unnamed dispatcher and constables Michael McNaughton and Bryan Spencer are named as defendants.
