CHINGUACOUSY CURLING CLUB :: 9050 BRAMALEA ROAD | BRAMPTON ON L6S 6G7
Hello everyone, I hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying the nice weather! I just wanted to give everyone a summary of the CurlON Spring Information Sessions that were held on April 14th and 15th. I had a chance to attend the session on April 14th. You will find attached the presentation from the session. It will also be posted on the website. In summary, CurlON is working with clubs that need to use some of the government subsidies through these challenging times and are planning programs for the fall to jumpstart the curling season. CurlON has created contingency plans for many of the programs and will adapt as the landscape changes. For Chinguacousy Curling Club, we are looking at taking advantage of the CurlON Clinic Programs that will be rolled out in the fall as long as we get the clear and our facility is open. These programs include having a TryCurlingNow session to attract new curlers in the fall at our club and we have also requested to be a curling club that will host one of the Free Skills Analysis Curling Clinics (these were clinics that were held last season at different clubs). In addition, CurlON has laid out a strategic plan for 2020-2021 with their mission and vision statement (please see the presentation – page 5). An election for a new Board of Directors at CurlON was held electronically through a ranking system. In the new voting system, each club (including Chinguacousy Curling Club) does get a vote. As a board, we ranked the 7 candidates and submitted our vote. CurlON has a survey that is also asking clubs what the impact of Covid-19 is to their club. The results will be shared with Lisa McLeod (Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport) to help work to lobby government for help in rebounding from the economic and social effects of the pandemic. Here is the link to the survey - Covid-19 Club Economic Impact Survey. As a club, we have filled in the survey. CurlON is also planning for an AGM and Business of Curling Symposium in the fall (September 20, 2020) at the Whitby Curling Club. Of course, this may change as we waited for full details on Sports Return to Play Action Plan from the government but as we all know, it takes time to plan and CurlON would like to be ready as much as possible. CurlON is looking for input on topics and speakers for the CurlON 2020 Fall Symposium. As a curling member, you can fill in the survey at the following link – Fall Business of Curling Symposium. CurlON is also continuing to find ways to help provide value to CurlON participants through partnerships and sponsors. If you have any questions about the CurlON meeting or anything else about CurlON, please do not hesitate to reach me at [email protected]. Stay safe and healthy, Pearl Quan [email protected] CurlON representative for Chinguacousy Curling Club
