    The State Council approved the Development Plan forLiaoning Coastal Economic Belton 1 July 2009

    The economic belt refers to 6 coastal cities in Liaoning:Dalian (), Dandong (), Jinzhou (), Yingkou(), Panjin () and Huludao ()

    The plan emphasizes the provinces strategic role inrejuvenating the old production bases of heavy industryin northeastern provinces

    The Central and South Liaoning city cluster identified by the NationalDevelopment and Reform Committee (NDRC) includes mainly the citiesaround Shenyang and Dalian; but the economic belt focuses only on citiesalong the coast line of Liaoning province

    Growing economic and cultural interaction across the strait in the lastfew years- Taiwan opened its door to mainland Chinese tourists for travelling

    since 2005- First direct flight across the strait in December 2008- Taiwan set up a tourist office in Beijing in May 2010 to promotetourism among mainland Chinese

    Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA)- Mainland China and Taiwan signed ECFA in June 2010 to advancecross-strait relations and give a major boost to two-way trade- The Chinese Mainland will eliminate the tariffs imposed on 539

    import items from Taiwan in several stages- Taiwan will follow a similar time frame to eliminate the tariffs itpresently imposes on 267 goods from the Chinese mainland- As for service sector liberalization, the Chinese Mainland agreed toopen up 11 service industries to Taiwan and Taiwan will open up 9
