The aid, carried by a Boeing-747 cargo plane of China Eastern Airlines, includes 100 boats, 500 tents and 100 water clarifiers. The relief handover ceremony was held at the airport apron of Vientiane Wattay Inter- national Airport. Wang Wentian, Chinese ambassador to Laos, said at the cer- emony that China and Laos are good brothers who can go through thick and thin together, and whenever there is hardship, the two nations always share the same hardship, and support each other. The Chinese people are caring a lot about the situation of the Lao people in the disas- ter-stricken south. To assist the Lao govern- ment's efforts to rescue and help the affected people, the Chinese government has decided to immediately provide humanitarian aid to the Lao side, the Chinese ambassador said. "I hope that the re- lief, full of profound friendship from the Chi- nese people, will play a useful role in the Lao government's relief ef- forts," Wang said. In her speech deliv- ered at the ceremony, Lao Deputy Minister for Labor and Social Welfare Baikham Khattiya thanked Chi- na for its selfless and generous assistance. After the floods in Attapeu Province in southern Laos broke out, China firstly of- fered Laos a helping hand, which once again reflects the sound friendship between the two governments and the two peoples, Bai- kham said, adding that the Lao side will make proper use of the Chi- nese relief supplies, to help the people in the disaster areas to resume normal production and living activities as soon as possible. On July 23, a sad- dle dam of the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy hydroe- lectric power project, invested by South Korean, Thai and Lao companies, burst, unleashing 5 billion cubic meters of water from the mountain to 13 villages of Sanamx- ay district downstream the Xe Pian River, some 560 km southeast of Vientiane. Six villages were almost submerged by the muddy flood with 13,000 villagers being affected. (Xinhua) Yunnan will have a 'tourism revolution' A fter more than 40 years of hard work, Yunnan tourism has emerged as a provin- cial pillar industry from scratch. And tourism makes a beau- tiful signature of Yun- nan. In recent years, however, Yunnan tour- ism has been marred successive incidents, involving attacks on tourists, delayed med- ical aid, and forced shopping. Tourist com- plaints in Yunnan ac- counted for more than 60% of the country’s total, and the image of Yunnan has plummet- ed. In the face of cha- os, Yunnan introduced the 22 strictest pos- sible measures last year to regulate the tourist market. As a result, market order improved, with com- plaints falling sharply. The unreasonable low- cost tours disappeared, and forced shopping has be basically elim- inated. The “zero-yu- an” tour packages still exists in some places, and the compulsory shopping still occurs from time to time. At present, Yunnan will be more determined than ever before to have a tourism revolution. Yunnan will develop international, high- end, specialized and smart tourism, while focusing on market order, service upgrade, products supply and tourist management. Now is the time to have a revolution in tourist market order. Yunnan will regulate its tourist market in an unwavering way, adhere to the “zero tolerance” attitude to the illegal deeds, and carry out timely and severe crack-downs on the law-breakers. Now is the time to have a revolution in its quality upgrade. Yunnan will establish the “Yunnan-standard” systems that cover all aspects of tourism development. Now is the time to have a revolution in its tourist products supply. Yunnan will be market-oriented and adopt a holistic view in developing tourism. The public-service facilities are to be improved, with smart tourism stepped up and the overall supply in tourist products enhanced. Now is the time to have a revolution in tourism administration. Yunnan will balance and make good use of the visible hand of policy makers and the invisible hand of the market. (Abridged from Yunnan Daily Commentary) I n an old industrial factory with broken windows and doors, Geng Jiasheng and his colleagues are produc- ing mobile, eco-friend- ly toilets. Geng, 55, is a lathe operator at Yunnan Metallurgical Kunming Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., which has been manufacturing casting machines, cranes and other heavy equipment for mining, metallurgy, and road construction since 1958. The company, lo- cated in Kunming, the capital of southwest China's Yunnan Prov- ince, however, ran into trouble over the past several years because sales of heavy mechan- ical products plum- meted, leaving several workshops idle. "Many of my co-workers left the company and found other jobs," said Geng. At the end of 2015, the company began to research and develop new products, among which eco-friendly toi- lets were chosen as the perfect product for the company's reform for revival. "We didn't really know much about pro- ducing eco-friendly toilets back then, but we knew they had huge mar- ket potential," said Peng Yong, general manager of the company. "The outdated toi- lets in downtown areas and scenic spots were not convenient for the public," said Peng, "Both local people and tourists needed better toilets." "What's more, the 'toilet revolution' ad- vocated by the central government has brought us many opportunities," Peng added. The Chinese gov- ernment launched its "toilet revolution" across the country in 2015 with an aim to make public facilities cleaner and better reg- ulated. After setting goals for reform, the compa- ny selected staff from different posts to form a research team, with Geng serving as team leader. "At the beginning, we only developed a simple blueprint," said Geng, who instructed the team to start from scratch, search for data, and ask for suggestions from others. After three months of hard work, the first generation of the product was devel- oped. "Using biological cleaning technology, with just one flush, the water will turn the feces into water which will be recycled back to the tank and used for future flushes. The water in the tank will be atomized before it's flushed," Geng said. "The toilet is suitable for scenic spots and other sites with scarce water resources." "Reform is no easy job, but we have co- operated with other companies and brought in technical resourc- es," said Peng, adding that the automatic pro- duction line, with an investment of over 30 million yuan (about 4.4 million U.S. dollars), has started mass pro- duction. Meanwhile, Geng's team continues to up- grade their products. The fourth generation toilet can be used by more than 400 people every day. "We received our first order of 50 toilets from the government of Zhaoyang district in northeast Yunnan last year," Geng said. "We will continuously im- prove our products to guarantee their quality and provide conveni- ence for users." (Xinhua) Yunnan to add more air routes to South, SE Asia S outhwest China's Yun- nan Province plans to add 25 new air routes to Southeast Asia and South Asia before 2020 as part of an initiative to develop Yunnan into a regional air hub, the province's development and reform commission said Monday. Of the 25 new routes, 17 are passenger air routes, linking Kunming, the provincial capital, to cities including Is- lamabad, Jakarta, and Haiphong. The other eight cargo routes will connect Kunming with cities such as Calcutta, Rangoon, and Ho Chi Minh City. Yunnan, which bor- ders Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam, has already opened air routes to the capital cities of all Southeast Asian coun- tries. The province also plans to increase the frequency of existing air routes to cities including Bangkok, Vientiane, and Hanoi. (Yunnan Gateway) China's OnePlus sees growth in Indian smartphone market C hinese smartphone manufacturer One- Plus surpassed Sam- sung and Apple as the fast-growing premium (price of over $436) smartphone brand in India, a report has showed. According to the report released by in- dustry analysis firm Counterpoint Re- search, OnePlus was the quickest develop- ing brand in the top- notch segment while shipments for Apple and Samsung declined year-on-year. It caught 40 percent of the mar- ket driven by record shipments of its One- Plus 6. Samsung captured 34 percent offer of the premium segment. Its shipments declined 25 percent year-on- year because of a drop in shipments of S9 when contrasted with S8 a year ago. Nonetheless, ad- vancements identified with S9 stay solid which pushed deals. Apple's offer in the premier segment achieved its most re- duced ever 14 percent because of the decrease in shipments for iP- hone 8 and X arrange- ment. Furthermore, the expansion in import duty and absence of local manufacturing affected its estimating system in India. Apple is likewise hoping to streamline it's divert structure in India, the report said. OnePlus surpassing Samsung and Apple was because of strong sales of its flagship OnePlus 6, which was launched amid the quarter. India remains an essential market for OnePlus, adding to right around 33 percent of its worldwide in- come. Each new model launched by OnePlus sees great deals on account of informal reference from existing clients and furthermore in light of the fact that the organization ad- equately use internet based life, the report said. The premium cell phone fragment grew 19 percent year and 10 percent consecutive- ly during the second quarter finished June. Samsung captured over 33 percent of the aggregate premium cell phone showcase amid the quarter with advancements around its leader S9 series staying strong, the re- ports added. Despite being a digital-first brand, increasing its offline presence across the state as well is a major reason behind One- Plus's path to success in Indian market "More offline touch-points also mean enabling com- munity members with more platforms to en- gage with the brand and allow for expe- riencing the product before buying. These experience zones are designed to introduce OnePlus products to potential new users, strengthen user trust and further comple- ment our online busi- ness", General Man- ager of OnePlus India Vikas Agarwal told to Business Line. In 2014, he opened the OZZIE'S in the Hongshan East Road in Kunming. Speaking of the restaurant's name, Charles explained that Aussies are called "Aus" for short and its informal spelling is "Oz" or "Ozzie". The original name of the res- taurant was "Great Australia Bite", but that was too long and easy to be confused. So he changed it into OZZIE'S instead. The restaurant's signature dishes are beef burgers and steak, made of Australian Angus beef. Charles told us that the most Australian dish at the OZZIE’S is the Hawai- ian pizza topped with pineap- ples. “Four out of every five pizzas sold in Australia are the Hawaiian pizza,” he said. Having lived in Kun- ming for 12 years, Charles is so familiar with the city. He can speak fluent Kunming dialect now. Sometimes he can't even tell whether he is speaking mandarin or Kun- ming dialect. In spare time, he is also keen on charity ac- tivities. He has hosted several fund-raising dinners in his restaurant to donate dispos- able diapers for the Kunming Municipal Children's Home. Charles and his own restaurant in Kunming

Charles, a computer engi-neer from Australia, has

opened a western restaurant in Kunming of southwest China's Yunnan Province and settled here.

Back to the year of 2006, when Charles was working in the IBM branch in Aus-tralia, he decided to take a year off. “At that time, I just wanted to find a place to re-lax. I had a college classmate from Kunming, so I came here,” said Charles.

As he couldn't find very satisfying western dishes, especially steak in Kunming, Charles decided to open an Australian-style restaurant himself.

The restaurant's signature dishes are beef burgers and steak, made of Australian Angus beef. Charles told us that the most Australian dish at the OZZIE’S is the Hawai-ian pizza topped with pineap-ples. “Four out of every five pizzas sold in Australia are the Hawaiian pizza,” he said.

Having lived in Kun-ming for 12 years, Charles is so familiar with the city. He can speak fluent Kunming dialect now. Sometimes he can't even tell whether he is speaking mandarin or Kun-ming dialect. In spare time, he is also keen on charity ac-tivities. He has hosted several fund-raising dinners in his restaurant to donate dispos-able diapers for the Kunming Municipal Children's Home.
