Our current furniture and educational equipment is functional, but aging. Equipment that utilizes a modular approach will allow us to design a learning environment that caters to the specific needs of preschoolers while also providing us with the flexibility to move our program to a new location with minimal changes to a new space. The modular system includes areas for art and mealtime, science and math and early literacy. The flexibility of the system, with many of the components set on casters, will allow staff to easily move furniture to suit our needs, and allow us to share a space with other community activities when preschool isn't in session. New area rugs will further help define specific spaces within the building and add warmth and cheer to the environment. Project Timeline: Expendiures will occur immediately. Entrance/Cubby StorageLockers are perfect for 3 to 5 year olds. They extend along one wall to minimize traffic through activity areas.
Art/Mealtime AreaArt materials are beautifully displayed in the Creative Unit and easily accessible for the children. The tables can be used for mealtimes or art projects.
Sand & Water/Science/MathThe Sand & Water Table is located near the sink and close to the door to the outdoor play area. The Display Unit is ideal for science and nature presentations.
Block AreaBlock play is fundamental to all forms of development. In this room, prime play space is reserved for blocks.
Writing/Listening/ReadingThe space for Writing, Listening and Reading occupies the most protected corner of the room. Its proximity to the Loft and Dramatic Play area encourages these activities to flow together naturally.
Dramatic PlayThe Loft can become a pirate ship, a tree house, or a spaceship with the help of a little imagination. The kitchen set inspires housekeeping while friendships are formed.
