OldCovenantvs.NewCovenant

2Tim2:15 Be diligent to presentyourselfapproved to God, aworker whodoesnot need to be

ashamed,rightlydividingthewordoftruth.(NKJV)

TheWholeBiblewaswrittenforyou,butthewholeBiblewasnotwrittentoyou. YouhavetorightlydividetheWordoftruth(TheScriptures)tofindoutwhichareapplicableto

youandwhicharenot.

Themostimportantthingtodividebetween,istheOldCovenantandtheNewCovenant.LawvsGrace.ThisisnottobeconfusedwiththeOldTestamentandNewTestamentwhicharemerely

acollectionofbookswrittenbeforeandafterasignificantpointintime.

Covenantgovernsrelationship.ThecovenantyouareunderdetermineshowGodrelatestoyouandhowyourelatetoGod.DontrelatetoHimthroughacovenantthatisnotapplicabletoyou.

John1:17 ForthelawwasgiventhroughMoses,butgraceandtruthcamethroughJesusChrist.

This workbook is not going to go into great detail about the Law Covenant vs The GraceCovenant,butanunderstandingofthemisrequired.Wewilldealwithmoredifferencesaswe

goalong.Thisisjustabriefoverview.

Heb8:6-13 ButnowHehasobtainedamoreexcellentministry,inasmuchasHeisalsoMediatorofa

better covenant, which was established on better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been

faultless,thennoplacewouldhavebeensoughtforasecond.8Becausefindingfaultwiththem,Hesays:

"Behold,thedaysarecoming,saystheLord,whenIwillmakeanewcovenantwiththehouseofIsrael

andwiththehouseofJudah9notaccordingtothecovenantthatImadewiththeirfathersintheday

whenItookthembythehandtoleadthemoutofthelandofEgypt;becausetheydidnotcontinueinMy

covenant,andIdisregardedthem,saystheLord.10ForthisisthecovenantthatIwillmakewiththe

The New (Grace) Covenant: God relates to sinful people through Jesus, reconciling them toHimselfandnolongerrelatingtothemthroughtheLawsinceJesusfulfilledtherequirementsofthelawonthebehalfofpeople.

Heb7:18-19 Theformerregulationissetasidebecauseitwasweakanduseless19(forthelawmade

nothingperfect),andabetterhopeisintroduced,bywhichwedrawneartoGod.(NIV)

TheLaw Covenantwas weakand useless inproviding peoplewith right-standingbeforeGodbecausenobodycouldeverkeepitperfectly(Gal3:10,James2:10,James4:17).

ThebetterhopebywhichwedrawneartoGodisnotourownrighteousnessorholiness,butthroughJesusChristsfreegiftofrighteousness.(Eph2:8-9,Rom3:20-26)

BecauseofthisJesusqualifiesyoutodothesameworksandgreaterbecauseyouhavethesameright-standingbeforeGodasJesushas.(John14:12).

Gal3:11-14 Clearlynooneis justifiedbefore Godby thelaw, because, "The righteouswill live by

faith." 12The law isnotbased on faith; on thecontrary, "Themanwhodoes these thingswill liveby

them."13Christredeemedusfromthecurseofthelawbybecomingacurseforus,foritiswritten:

"Cursed iseveryone who ishungon a tree." 14 Heredeemed usin orderthat theblessinggiven to

NOONEisjustifiedbythelaw.NoonecanpleaseGodbykeepingthelawandlivingholy. Righteousness(rightstandingbeforeGod)isattainedbyfaithinChristonly. TheLawisnotoffaithwhichmakesrelatingtoGodthroughitnotpleasingtoHim.(Heb11:6) Jesusbecameacurseforus,removingtherightofthecurseoftheLawtocomeonus.(This

doesntmeanthecursedoesntexist)

LivingundertheLaw,tryingtobejustifiedbyyourowneffortstoliveholyandpleasingtoGodisACURSE!Nogoodwillcomefromit. Infact,youalienateyourselffromthelifeofChristbydoingit.(Gal5:1-5)

Wearenottomixtheoldandnewcovenants.Mixingthemwillneverwork.Youhavetodecidewhichoneisbetter,whichoneyouwant,andliveaccordingtoit.

Jesus+anything=nothing.Jesus+nothing=everything. UndertheOldCovenant,GoddealtwithpeopleasarighteousjustGodwould.UndertheNew

Covenant,HetreatsthemlikeHewantsto:Withlove,kindness,favour,joy,peaceetc.

UndertheOldCovenant,yourright-standingbeforeGodwasdeterminedbyyourabilitytoliverighteously.UndertheNew,yourright-standingbeforeGodisJesus.Youaretherighteousness

ofGodinChrist.(2Cor5:21).

WhydoIneedtoknowthis?

OtherwiseyouwillbelieveGodistheproblem,causingorallowingsicknessasjudgmentandpunishment.

YouwillalwayswonderaboutGodswillandneverbetrulyabletobeinfaith.Aslongasyouarenotsure,youwillalwaysbeonarollercoasteroffaithorunbelief.

Youwillbeproblem-focusedinsteadofsolutionfocused. Youwilljudgepeopleinsteadofministeringtothem.(Saltlosingsaltiness.) Youwillbecomepurelyworks-based,prescribingthings thepersonneedsto liveuptobefore

Godwillmoveontheirbehalf.

Youwillministercondemnationandguiltwhichleadsnowheregood. Youwillconfusepeople.

Conclusion

Yourknowledgeandunderstandingofthenewcovenantandnewcreationwillgiveyouconfidenceto

believe for supernatural blessings tomanifest. If you are not sure ofwho you are orwhat you are

allowed todo, youwont have confidence tobe ordo anything. But ifyou know yourpositionandauthority,youwillhavetheconfidencetodowhatneedstobedone.

ThisisaprophecyaboutJesuscrucifixionandwhatisgoingtotakeplacethere. Griefs istheHebraicwordCholiymeaningsickness,disease,anxiety,calamity, infirmityand

griefs.

SorrowsistheHebraicwordMakobmeaninganguish,affliction,pain,andsorrow. Bothwordsarealwaysusedwhenreferringtophysicalsicknesses,physicalpainandphysical

infirmities.

ByHisstripes(whichHereceivedatthewhippingpost)weAREhealed.Matt8:16-17 Wheneveninghadcome,theybroughttoHimmanywhoweredemon-possessed.And

Hecastoutthespiritswithaword,andhealedallwhoweresick,17thatitmightbefulfilledwhichwas

Matthewquotes Isaiahsprophecy andusesthe propermeanings of thewordsby sayingHetookourinfirmitiesandboreoursicknesses.

Jesushealedphysicalpeopleofphysicalsicknessesandcastoutactualdemonsinordertofulfillthis prophesy. Buttheactual fulfillment isnotonly in thehealing andthe castingout, its in

receivingthestripeswhichhappenedlater.

1Peter2:24 whoHimself bore oursinsinHisownbodyon thetree, thatwe,havingdied to sins,

mightliveforrighteousnessbywhosestripesyouwerehealed.(NKJV)

This is a reference to the same prophecy and fulfillment. Jesus bore our sins (and thepunishment)forussowedonthaveto.

ByHisstripesweWEREhealed.Thishaschangedfrompresenttopasttensesignifyingthattheprovision has beenmade.There is nothing left todo toprovide for healing. Jesusdid it all

perfectly.ItisFINISHED!

Thereweretwopartstotheoneatonement.

1.ThebeatingatthewhippingpostwasthefirstpartwhereHisphysicalbodywasbrokenforus,providinguswithphysicalhealing.(1Pet2:24).BreadofCommunion.

2. ThedeathonthecrosswasthesecondpartwhichprovidedforthesalvationofourspiritsandtheestablishmentoftheNewCovenant.(Rom5:8)WineofCommunion.

Ifhealingisalreadyprovidedforandaccomplished,whyarewenotalljusthealed?Well,ifsalvationis

providedforandaccomplished,whyarewenotalljustsaved?Ittakesfaith.Godswillisforallmankind

tobesavedandhealed,butHiswilldoesntautomaticallycometopass.Ithastobetakenbyfaith.

IfyoureasonthatsomebodywasnothealedbecauseGodissovereignandcandowhatHewantsto,

thenhowsureareyou thatyouweresaved? Ifyousaysomebodywasnot healed becauseofGods

timing,thenhowsureareyouthatyougotsavedandthatGoddidnthaveanothertimeinmindtosave

you?Everythingyoubelieveaboutsalvationisexactlytrueforhealingtoo.BotharealwaysGodswillatalltimesbecausebothwereprovidedforinthesameatoningsacrifice.DoyoueverdoubtthatGod

wantstosavesomebody?ThenwhydoyoudoubtthatHewantstohealthem?

Mark2:3-12 ThentheycametoHim,bringingaparalyticwhowascarriedbyfourmen.4Andwhen

theycouldnotcomenearHimbecauseofthecrowd,theyuncoveredtheroofwhereHewas.Sowhen

theyhadbrokenthrough,theyletdownthebedonwhichtheparalyticwaslying.5WhenJesussawtheir

HealingistoserveasasignthatGodforgives. IfGodswillforhealingandsalvationweredifferent,healingcouldntbeusedasasign. Therefore:Godswillforsalvation=Godswillforhealing. Pleasenotethatthisdoesntmeanifyouarenothealedthatyouarenotforgiven.Thedevilwill

try tomake you believe that. Dont entertain those thoughts. Healing proves Godswill for

GodbroughtthewholeofIsraeloutfromEgyptandtheywereallhealthy.Howisitthathundredsof

thousandsofIsraeliteslaveslivingintheworstconditionsinEgyptdidnothaveonesickorweakperson

amongstthem?TheytookPassoverthenightbeforetheyleft.(Ex12)

PassoverLambsbloodondoorpostsandeatunleavenedbread. TheygotsavedoutofEgyptthedayaftertheytookPassover. Itsetthemfree,madethemprosperousandhealedthem. ItsashadowpointingtowardsJesusatonement.

letamanexaminehimself,andsolethimeatofthebreadanddrinkofthecup.29Forhewhoeatsand

TheLordsBody:TheBreadofLife

ThebreadrepresentsJesusbodybrokenforus.Whywasitbeatenandbroken?1Peter2:24 Verse30:ForTHISreason,manyareweakandsickamongyou,andmanysleep(die).Forwhat

reason? Not discerning the Lords body. Not the blood, but the body. Not realizing and

acknowledgingwhathappenedatthewhippingpostornotbelievinginitisthereasonPaulsays

peoplearephysicallysickandevenphysicallydieprematurely.

readJohn5:16itsaysthePhariseespersecutedJesusforthesethingsHedidonthatSabbath

Doyougetit?Anythingyoubelievethatiscontraryto Jesusisa traditionofmanthatnullifiesthe

WordofGodinyourlife.Stopit!ItnullifiesitbecauseyouwillnotgotoGodifyoubelievethose

conditions. You have set up vain empty imaginations that try to exalt themselves against the

Jesusisperfecttheology.IfwhatyoubelieveonhowtoministerisnotreflectedbyJesusorthewayHe

MostpeoplebelievethateverythingthathappensonearthhadtobewilledbyGod.TheyseeGodasthe

beingthatisinsupremecontrolofeverythingandisbehindeverythingthathappensandthatnothingcanhappenunlessGodwillsitorgivesitpermissiontooccur.TheyreasonthatsinceGodhasthepower

tochange any bad thing, that ifHe wanted to, Hewouldhave done so already.Unfortunately God

doesntalways getwhatHewants.Yes, Heis sovereign! Yes, he has all power.But tosayGodwills

everythingthathappensistosayGodwillsyourcancer,yourrape,yourmolestation,yourdivorce,your
