    Statement of the problem

Media exposes violence through which children

tend to become less sensitive to the pain and

suffering of others and become more fearful of the

world around them. Parents and adults who deal with children

overlook such factors and allow them to watch

    television without supervision.

The young mind of a child starts developing its

own perception of reality and starts adopting it in

    his practical life also.

    What did I found ?

Frequent viewing of television violence leadsto the belief that such violence is an accurateportrayal of real life, resulting in anexaggerated fear of violence from others. Fear

stemming from watching scary media may beimmediate and short-term but can also beenduring.

Aggressive behavior and attitudes are learnedat young ages and can result in lifelongviolence unless there are interventions.

    Conclusion

Parents should watch television and other media with theirchildren and evaluate the shows together.

Adults need to talk with children about what they observethrough the media, to find out how children are interpreting

what they see and to help clarify misinterpretations.

Parents can designate an approved list of media options fortheir children and give children choices from amongapproved shows.

Parents can assist children in finding alternatives to viewingadult television. In addition, parents can use videotapes ofhigh quality children's programming and public televisionwhen commercial alternatives are not available.
