Its Story Time!! Children's healthy development depends on safe and positive experiences when they are very young. If you

work or go to school, you want to know that your child is in good hands while you are away. You may choose in-home care, where the caregiver comes to your home. Or your child might go to the caregiver's home. Finally, there are child care centers. You need to choose the one that works for your family.

Young children are not known to be adventurous eaters and are often downright picky. And so the challenge remains; how can you plan for a successful and nutritious snack time? First, there are some basic safety considerations. Upon enrollment, be sure to ask if the child has any food allergies and post this information in a place that would be visible to anyone serving food. Some common food allergies include; eggs, nuts, fish, citrus and milk. Also, you may wish to avoid any food that may present a choking hazard such as whole hot dogs, grapes, nuts, cherries, or hard candy.

Snack Time.. • Most child care workers perform a combination of basic care and teaching duties, but the majority of their

time is spent on care giving activities. However, there is an increasing focus on preparing children aged 3 to 5 years for school. Workers whose primary responsibility is teaching are classified as preschool teachers.

• Pay depends on the educational attainment of the worker and the type of establishment. Although the pay generally is very low, more education usually means higher earnings. Median hourly earnings of wage and salary childcare workers were $7.86 in 2002. The middle 50 percent earned between $6.66 and $9.65. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $5.91, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $11.46. Median hourly earnings in the industries employing the largest numbers of childcare workers in 2002 were as follows: Other residential care facilities $9.51

Naps!! should be clean and in good repair at all times. You are hired to work with children

and being down and on the floor frequently is part of the job responsibility. Clothing must be appropriate to engage children in all types of activities throughout the day. Jeans are allowed; however, they must fit loosely with no holes or lavish accessories. Use a conservative outlook when deciding upon apparel.

Whose ready to Play!.

• The work hours are kind of longer than school hours. From 8-6 and sometimes longer than what we expect if some of the parents have to work late they will ask you to stay an hour or so.

• A person that likes this job has to like kids and has to have patience. You have to ready for a mess to clean. And lot of crying.
