About Conference
Global consultations on the post-2015 development agenda show great convergence of ambitions. Women and men
from all walks of life want a world where extreme poverty has disappeared, everyone is well fed, all children have
access to quality education, economies aredynamic and the benefits from growth are equitably shared, decent jobs
are available toeveryone, natural resources are used sustainably and temperature increases from climate changeare
manageable.
As an extended angle of the above paragraph, the role of the urban and regional planning profession in India needs to
be revisited and reinvented to ensure its relevance. Economic uncertainty, rapid urbanization and rural
depopulation, widening disparity between socio-economic groups, threats from terrorism and natural hazards
becoming natural disasters are some of the issues facing contemporary urban and regional planning, which requires
a better understanding of these 'Perplex' issues as well as fresh approaches and novel solutions.
Rural depopulation has resulted in 'dysfunctional' rural communities where social cohesion is breaking down; rural livelihoods are becoming less sustainable and social problems such as drug abuse prevalent among rural youths. The main challenge in rural planning remains the creation of economically vibrant rural communities with access to high quality facilities and services to prevent the outmigration of rural youths. Relevant topics are:

All paper will undergo blind review process and accepted papers will be
considered for presentation at the seminar.
If a paper has more than one author then every author of the accepted
paper has to register and any one of the author can present the paper
at the seminar.
