CHICK FLICK PITCH.
When deciding on what genre we wanted to make our A2 trailer, we wanted to pick one in which we would find easy, but also interesting. As we both have an interest in chick flicks outside of school, we decided that this would be the most appropriate as we could
both stick too and challenge conventions.
Our plot: Whilst sticking to most chick flick conventions, we found that there is a gap for a slightly more out there ‘love scene’, therefore deciding on the main storyline to be based on a girl meets girl plot. After
doing much research, Tyler and I are clear that this plot has not been done before due to the fact that despite being a typically accepting Westernised world, a same sex relationship storyline just would not appeal to any Hollywood audience. As an ‘independent’ however, we think we could bring something new to the usual boy
meets girl movie. Our main character would fall in love with one of the girls who befriended her when she
moved into the town, who would after shame her in front of everyone after our main character reveals her
true feelings.
The main selling points of the movie is that it would still be relatable to a massive target audience, the same
way conventional chick flick movies do not target every sexuality and gender. By incorporating some humour within the film we also take pressure off of the ‘love’
element and make it acceable to both male and female viewers desire its ‘chick flick’ genre.
Tyler and I have purposely decided to make the main charceter (who initially falls in love with her girl crush), different from your steratypical ‘butch’ lesbian, and is actually attractive and would be popular amounst the boys. The group of girls in which could be compared to
as the ‘plastics’ of the film, are made up of 3 or 4 females who are clearly the most popular in the school, and try to befriend out main character as she joins her
new town.
