CLASSES & PRIVATE LESSONS The physical demands of jazz and life—and the rigors of the road for pros— call for a unique degree of fitness. The Camp has playing fields for sports like pick-up soccer and Frisbee and two indoor basketball courts. Excellent catering is available with three nutritious meals a day for boarders and day students. Dietary restrictions are happily accommodated. FITNESS & SPORTS Students and families look forward to College Night during the 3rd week of Camp each summer. There, representatives from outstanding conservatories, colleges and universities present a panel on courses, costs, scholarships, and more. A College Fair follows where campers meet college reps and gain in-depth information about their programs. COLLEGE NIGHT Instrumentalists and vocalists, ages 13 up, with most in their mid-teens, make up our student body. They come from New England, 30+ states and abroad. More than 20 countries have been represented. Weekly attendance ranges from 60 to 100 with up to 24 combos working simultaneously. Campers have gone on to top colleges, winning scholarships and awards. Many also win coveted competition prizes and critic’s polls. Those who become pros can be seen at famed jazz clubs and festivals around the globe, and many return to teach at Litchfield and perform at the annual festival. STUDENTS Our talented, caring faculty are on the “Jazz Map.” They teach at Columbia, Williams, The New School, Amherst, Manhattan, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Purchase College and many other respected institutions and record and tour internationally. Some are icons, many are critic’s poll winners, band leaders and sidemen with other jazz greats. Visit litchfieldjazzcamp.com for staff music and bios. FACULTY Students enjoy lots of listening and performing. They attend faculty concerts and jams nightly, and student combo concerts wrap up each week. This year the festival (7/26-28) has a new format and a new location. All fest activities will be held at the Gunnery, a boarding school in Washington, CT. The fest has two components: a FREE Outerfest (7/27) with student performances for the public AND clinics by festival stars, art & craft shows, artist talks, family attractions and more. Opening night (7/26) students enjoy a FREE Mainstage early show especially for campers. Top-Shelf, Ticketed Concerts continue through Sunday. Litchfield Jazz Camp @litchfieldjazz litchfieldjazz
