Tidal Wetlands AbundanceBecause the C-CAP data is updated at most once every five years, a more recent data point should not be expected until 2012 (data through 2005 were reported in 2007 Assessment).

Previous data is currently being assessed for the 2008 Assessment:

1992 data with draft results expected by Dec 15, 2008 and

1984 data with draft results expected by Jan 30, 2009.

Establishment of goals/targets has been put on hold due to change in leadership of the Wetlands Workgroup.

Juvenile Menhaden AbundanceThe current consensus within the menhaden research community still is that there is no Chesapeake Bay specific sub-population of menhaden. So it is still not technically possible to set Bay specific targets or goals for menhaden. If CBPO establishes any kind of target or goal, it would be scientifically indefensible.

Revised indicator of juvenile menhaden abundance to include Virginia data (in conjunction with MD data).

If raw beach seine data is made available there is an existing peer reviewed protocol for a bay wide menhaden index. This replacement indicator could be included in the 2009 Assessment (that combines MD and VA data according to an approved methodology).
