This is the first time ASEAN NCAP performed a crash test on a light commercial vehicle. Other than used to transport goods, the Chery Transcab is sometimes used to carry passengers. The truck has no rear compartment thus, ASEAN NCAP did not perform any assessment for the Child Occupant Protection. The crash test showed that the Transcab’s compartment did not provide any survival protection to the occupants in the frontal offset test. Nevertheless, the model obtained 9.20 points for its side impact test, the only score for its Adult Occupant Protection category. As the truck does not offer any safety assist features, no points were included in the calculation. With an overall score of 17.04 points, the Chery Transcab received a Zero-Star rating in the ASEAN NCAP assessment.
