An unusual feature of this two­story early Victorian structure is its hinped roof and two exterior chimneys at each end. The floor plan consists of a center hall flanked by double par­lors to each side. >lhile almost all of the interior fabric is of early Vic­torian character, there is a rather finely executed Federal mantel in one ground-floor room. To one end of the main block is a later kitchen-service wing, also of frame construction.

This property has been officially designated as a Calvert County Historical i::'istrict.

FIRST: A tract ot land in the Third Election District of

Calvert County, Maryland, and described as follows:

Beginning in the center of the Lawrance Mill

Branch a short distance West of tho crossing of the Public Road,

thence running ~1th the branch to Lyons Creek, thence with the

creek to the Patuxent Rive~, thence with the River Shore, souther­

ly to a point where the r..s.rsh lands adjacent to the creek reach

the highland, thence c~storly ;:lth the line bordering on the lnPds

of the New York Silicate Company to the Northeast corner of snid

lands, thence southwesterly and southernly borderin~ on said last

mentioned lands to the Public Road leading from Lyons Crook Wharf,

then~e easterly with said road to the lands of Robb H. Griffith,

thonce with the land of the said Griffith to the land of Carrio

Higgins, thence northerly with the xond of the said Carrie Higgins· i
