Cheri Kommel Global Mission Retiree 30 Years of Service: Swaziland (1986 – 2001) Botswana (2001 – 2006) South Africa (2006 – 2016) My Testimony Cheri was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and received the B.S. degree from Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri. She did post-graduate work at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Her M.A. work was done through Cape Theological Seminary in Cape Town, South Africa. Cheri was ordained by the Church of the Nazarene in 2001. Cheri went to Swaziland in 1986 where she has taught high school, at the Nazarene Teacher Training College, and at Swaziland Nazarene Bible College. In 2002, Cheri was reassigned to Cape Town, South Africa, where she worked with extension education. In 2004, she moved to Botswana where she was also involved in extension education. In 2009 Cheri was appointed as Field Education Coordinator for the Africa South Field and moved to Johannesburg, South Africa in 2010. This assignment involves supervision and development of extension education on the Africa South Field. Cheri enjoys needlepoint and reading. She has a Kindle e-reader and reads mostly non- fiction (Christian Living and Biblical studies). She is an armchair sports fan. In the states, she likes to watch basketball and in South Africa soccer, of course! Cheri enjoys chocolate more than it is healthy, but her passion is for education and training pastors for ministry.
