K 2 CN 2 is prepared from KHCN 2 and KNH 2 in liquid NH 3 at -50 C. The crystal structure of the compound is refined from powder XRD data. K 2 CN 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/m, with Z = 2.
