2000 germanium, Ge germanium, Ge I 4700 01 - 023 Oxidative Coupling of Deltahedral [Ge 9 ] 4- Zintl Ions. The compound (II) containing the dimeric [(Ge 9 ) 2 ] 6- anion is obtained from a formal oxidative coupling reaction (oxidant unknown, probably traces of water or oxygen). The dimer consists of two identical Ge 9 clusters connected via an exo-bond between two vertices. The geometry of the Ge 9 cluster is very close to the classical monocapped square antiprism that is expected for nido deltahedral clusters of nine atoms. (II) crystallizes in the triclinic space group P 1 with Z = 1, as determined by single crystal XRD. — (XU, LI; SEVOV, SLAVI C.; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 121 (1999) 39, 9245-9246; Dep. Chem. Biochem., Univ.
