A Distillation Column Simulator for studying the design and operation of sieve trays and bubble cap trays. A 600mm large diameter Plexiglas column is used for easy observation of the trays and is provided with two sieve trays, a bubble cap tray and 3 pressure tappings. The upper sieve tray distributes vapour and liquid onto the bubble cap tray installed below. Three pressure tappings along the column measure the pressure drops to the bubble cap tray and the lower sieve tray.

CHE600Wetted Wall Absorption Pilot Plant

A Wetted Wall Absorption Plant for studying the theory and process of the absorption of oxygen into de-oxygenated water. The wetted wall column consists of a vertical glass tube. Water entering the column is distributed uniformly onto the inner surface. Nitrogen is injected into the column bottom. The deoxygenated water is pumped to the top of the absorption column and air is pumped into the column which rises and transfers oxygen.

CHE610Gas-Liquid Absorption Pilot Plant

A Gas-Liquid Absorption Plant for studying the theory and process of absorption of gas into a liquid through a packed column. The unit includes a 1500mm glass absorption column. The gas to be absorbed is carbon dioxide, stored in a cylinder (not supplied). The gas is mixed with a known air flow rate, from a compressor installed in the plant. The composition of the mixture entering the column is easily determined and modified for different test parameters. Test points allow measurement of the pressure drop and can also be used to sample the gaseous phase.
