Cheerful Givers
“Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully
will also reap bountifully. Each much do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion,
for God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). At this year’s GALA I was able to witness so
many people fulfilling this passage from scripture. Obviously, the night of GALA was filled with
hundreds of cheerful supporters of Catholic education. The smiles and the energy in the building
were uplifting and impressive. Along with the energy in the building on April 7th, numerous
families and supporters cheerfully gave of their time organizing events throughout the year along
with doing an incredible job of transforming our cafeteria and gymnasium.
Two of these supporters who have epitomized the “cheerful giver” have been Dave Engel
and Steve Tvrdy. These two men come into the gym days before GALA and start the
transformation process. They are the main guys hanging all of the decorations from the ceiling
and the walls. They do all this working around PE classes and track practices going on when they
start the transformation process. They have been a pleasure to have in the building and they have
a good time while doing their part to make GALA a wonderful celebration of Catholic education.
These guys along with countless other volunteers allow the night of the event to be a success.
Thank You to everyone who volunteered and contributed in the GALA process. It is
community support like this that illustrates how a community can get together for a great cause
and I can’t think of many better causes than an outstanding Catholic education opportunity for the
families of Saunders County. We all benefit from the values taught and promoted in Saunders
Catholic Schools and we thank you for letting us help the community instill these values in your
children.
Yours in Christ,
John Kreikemeier

Campus Ministry
Stations of the Cross were held the Fridays in Lent for the student body. Students John Celesky,
Eli Vedral, and Jessina Rada spoke about their faith journeys and ways to make Lent more
spiritual. Jr. High Social Studies teacher, Mr. Roche, spoke about always knowing there are many
people we can share our burdens with and especially trusting in God so that we don’t think we are
alone. Thomas Lilly, an alum, that attends the University of Nebraska, was also able to speak
about his faith life in college and encouraged the seniors to get involved in the Neumann center
and to surround themselves with people that will help them grow in their faith.
Members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, JPII, and Torch were able to attend the Chrism mass at the
Cathedral in Lincoln during Holy Week. 30 students also attended the Eucharistic Procession led
by Bishop Conley around Planned Parenthood on March 27th. Over 500 people from the diocese
prayed the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet as the Eucharistic was carried around the block in
prayer for the unborn. Our students are truly blessed to be part of these holy week experiences.

Pre-Calculus Students:
Students who will be taking Pre-Calculus next
year will each need to have their own Graphing
Calculator for use in class and on home-
work. Please purchase TEXAS INSTRUMENT
TI-83 or TI-84 model calculators. These are the
most common calculators used in college and
are approved for use on the ACT and
SAT. Other models may not be approved for
use on the ACT and SAT, and Mrs. Sladky may
not be familiar with other models. The
approved models can be purchased online or at
Walmart, Best Buy, etc. You can find them
used on Amazon for as cheap as $60 or can
spend upwards of $130. Graduating seniors or
students who will not need a graphing calculator
for future math classes may sell their graphing
calculator at the end of the school year to the
Neumann Math department, or to a future
Pre-Calc or Calc student. Please contact Mrs.
Sladky if you have any questions.
Reminder: All health paperwork (physicals, immunization updates, asthma, diabetes or anaphylaxis forms) are
due to the office no later than AUGUST 1st. Forms can be found on the Bishop Neumann website.
Please contact the school office f you have any questions or concerns.

The Class of 2018 is invited…. Again this year the faculty and staff at Bishop Neumann would like to continue a tradition for our senior classes. We would like to honor the senior students with an open house, this year to be held on Tuesday, May 8th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Bishop Neumann High School Library. We have invited all of the students to stop by and visit with the faculty and staff members. This is in no way intended to replace faculty visits at graduation parties, but it will make it possible to spend a few minutes with each student. In the past, some of the faculty and staff are honored to receive 20-30 invitations to graduation parties and we simply cannot make them all. We want each and every student to realize how important they are, and we hope that they will stop by to see us.
