Lord, as I am about to leave for home,I offer my thanks for all who have cared for me,

and made my stay more pleasant.I thank you for the healing that I have experienced,

and I offer heartfelt thanks to You, O God, for your unwavering presence.As I am about to go home, grant me the wisdom and strength

to choose what is best for me in the days ahead,so that my healing will continue. Amen.

Prayer Before Going Home

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,O what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer!

What a Friend We Have in Jesus

Page 5: CHE Prayer Booklet

Lord, I ask you to take my hand in yours. Walk with me to healing through my illness.

Calm my heart and take away my fears. Impart Your strength that I, with clear vision,

will experience your presence with me,may I trust in You and Your unfailing love. Amen.

Gracious God, so much is strange and different that sometimes I do not understand what it is all about;

then I become anxious and afraid.Please take away my anxieties, my doubts and my fears.

Enable me to trust You, Lord, that I may relax into Your love,grow calm and peaceful even in the face of difficulties.

Lord, You are my constant source of hope and strength. Amen.

Prayer on Entering the Hospital

Prayer While Waiting

O Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds and whosebreath gives life to all the world, hear me!

I am small and weak. I need Your strength and wisdom.Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the sunset.

Make my hands respect the things You have madeand my ears sharp to hear Your voice.Make me wise so that I understand

the things You have taught my people.Let me learn the lessons You have hidden in every rock and leaf.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother,but to fight my greatest enemy—myself.Make me always ready to come to You

with clean hands and straight eyes.So when life fades, as the fading sunset,

my spirit may come to You without shame.

Almighty God, teach me, I humbly ask You,the secret of casting fear out of my mind.

With deep regret, I confess to You, that I am often afraid.Life’s challenges overwhelm me.

Some days are too much for me to bearwith my tiny store of courage and strength. I need help.

Remind me that You are always there for me.May I hear over and over deep within my soul,

Your voice and Your words: “Be not afraid.”In hearing, may I trust You, and in trusting

may I find strength and courage in Your love. Amen.

Most merciful God, look upon me with the eyes of Your compassion.Let Your healing hand rest upon me.

Let Your life-giving power flow throughout my bodyand into the very depths of my being.

Cleanse, purify and restore me to wholeness.Strengthen me so that I might continue to love and serve You,

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful,for I have taken refuge in You; in the shadow of Your wings

will I take refuge until this time of trouble has gone by. Amen.

Prayer for Healing

For Courage

Just as the soft rains fill the streams, pour into the riversand join together in the oceans,

so may the power of every moment of Your goodnessflow forth to awaken and heal all beings, those here now,

those gone before, those yet to come.By the power of every moment of Your goodness

may Your heart’s wishes be soon fulfilledas completely shining as the bright full moon,

as magically as by a wish-fulfilling gem.By the power of every moment of Your goodness

may all dangers be averted and all disease be gone.May no obstacle come across Your way.May You enjoy fulfillment and long life.For all in whose heart dwells respect,

who follow the wisdom and compassion, of the way,may Your life prosper in the four blessings of old age,

beauty, happiness and strength.

O Lord, by all Your dealings with us,whether of joy or pain, of light or darkness

let us be brought to You.Let us value no treatment of Your grace

simply because it makes us happyor because it makes us sad,

or because it gives us or denies us what we want.But may all that You send us

bring us to You, that knowing Your loving kindnesswe may be sure in every disappointment

that You are still loving us,and in every darkness that You are still enlightening us,

and in every infirmity that You are still using us.Yes, even in death, that You are giving us life.

Prayer of Thanksgiving for All God’s Benefits

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all ye lands!Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.

Know that the Lord, He is God.It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves.We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.

12

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul:He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 100

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;where there is darkness, light;

and where there is sadness, joy.O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console;to be understood as to understand;

to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive;

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

I pray that I may be worthy of all these, today and in the days to come.Help me to banish all bitterness, let not despair overcome me.

Grant me patience when the hours are heavy;Give me courage whenever there is hurt or disappointment.

Lord, I ask you to take my hand in yours. Walk with me to healing through my illness.

Calm my heart and take away my fears. Impart Your strength that I, with clear vision,

will experience your presence with me,may I trust in You and Your unfailing love. Amen.

Gracious God, so much is strange and different that sometimes I do not understand what it is all about;

then I become anxious and afraid.Please take away my anxieties, my doubts and my fears.

Prayer Before Going Home

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,O what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer!
