The CHB 36’ is ideal for cruising in any waters. Forthe Pacific Northwest it offers covered walk arounddecks, a partially covered cockpit and excellentsteering visibility from inside. In the summer or inwarmer climates the aft cockpit or expansive upperdeck make excellent places to enjoy the open oceanair.

The CHB 36’ is based on the same well provensemi/full displacement hull that gave CHB itsexcellent reputation for its sea keeping abilities. Atthe aft end the hard chines give the boat goodstability then the hull works into a deep V. Poweredwith a reliable Yanmar LHA 160 the CHB 36’ cruisesat a comfortable 8 kts while burning 3 GPH, 2.5miles to the gallon. At a more economical 7 kts youwill burn 2 GPH or go 3.5 miles to the gallon

Engine Room and Accessibility:

As on the North Pacific 42’ Pilothouse all ofthe equipment on the CHB 36’ is very easy toaccess. Wherever there is equipment, there isaccess to it. There are several hatchesthroughout the boat making maintenance aseasy as possible.

The engine room is accessed through 5hatches on the salon floor. The main hatch ishinged and has a ladder going down. Theengine room is well-lit and very spacious withample room on all sides of the Yanmar LHA160Hp engine to work around it comfortably.There is substantial lead cored soundinsulation surrounding the engine room andcovered with aluminum paneling giving theengine room a very clean feeling. The floor isalso finished with aluminum paneling. You willquickly notice that all of the hoses and wiringare tucked away neatly and are labeled. Thestandard PYI dripless shaft seal can be seenthrough a clear plexiglass panel on the floor.

Standard equipment includes an Espar D5Wwhich is located in the engine room. This19,000 btu hot water heating system will keepthe boat warm all year round. This systemalso heats the water in the hot water tank.

Although the boat comes standard with 4, 200amp hour batteries many people still wouldlike a generator and there is plenty of roomfor one in the engine room. We can supplythe Northen Lights 5KW at the factory or wecan pre-plumb and pre-wire for a smallergenerator to be installed here. One werecommend for this boat is the MASE 2.2 KW.

Salon & Dinette:

Walking into the salon the first impression is afeeling of spaciousness. The ceiling height is aminimum of 6’5” and increases in height asyou look forward. Large windows, 3 of whichare sliding windows, allow you a 360 degreepanoramic view and allow plenty of light in tokeep the salon bright. On the port side is an Hshaped dinette with a hi-low table. Not onlydoes the table lower so the dinette can beused as a bed, but there are two leaves thatfold up and make for a more comfortableseating area while you are not eating. Thereare two drawers under the aft dinette seatand storage under the cushions on bothseats.

On the starboard side is a 7’ settee that easilypulls out into a bed comfortable for twopeople. The settee has storage under itsentire length.

Galley:

Just forward of the dinette is the galley. Largesolid surface countertops form an L shapegiving you ample room to prepare food. Atthe forward end is a large single stainlesssteel sink with an integrated drain boar andan American Standard one handle pulloutfaucet that makes cleanup easy. Under theentire countertop and at the forward end ofthe dinette is storage. In the galley there are5 drawers, 3 cabinets and a garbage bin.Across from the galley under the helm seatthere is a large slide out drawer that makesan excellent place to store cups or bottles.Just behind the helm seat is the biggestNorcold 7cu.ft fridge and freezer that isavailable, a rarity on a 36’ boat that hasproven to be very popular. The boat isequipped with a Seaward Princess gas ovenand 3 burner stove. There are two AC outletsin the galley for extra appliances that can beoperated using the yachts 3000W inverter.

Helm:

A built-in helm seat is located just forward ofthe fridge/freezer and provides a goodvantage point to see clearly over the bow.

Above the teak steering wheel is a raiseddash that makes an excellent place to installnavigational electronics and we will factoryinstall any Raymarine equipment youpurchase from us. On the starboard side is asliding door that lets in a nice breeze whileunder way and also makes handling the boatwhile docking much easier.

Stateroom:

The stateroom features a large islandqueen/V with steps up both sides. On the bedis a 5” thick foam filled mattress. There arefour large drawers under the bed, a hanginglocker and two book shelves for storage. Alarger screened hatch above and two portholes provides the stateroom with plenty oflight and air.

Head:

The head is accessed through a door on theport side of the stateroom. The head is well litwith a halogen light and a porthole. Thestandard toilet is an electric Jabsco toilet, aTecma toilet is optional. There are twostorage cabinets in the head and a built instainless steel sink. A shower head is hungfrom the wall.

Hull & Superstructure:

On both the hull and superstructure we usean ISO resin and US made Valspar gelcoat.There is a teak caprail, but no teak on thedecks or anywhere else outside.

The hull is solid hand-laid fiberglass. There isno coring anywhere in the thick hull. On theouter layers of the hull we use a vinylesterresin which is more resistant to waterpenetration than a standard polyester resin.This helps to prevent blistering. To furthereliminate the risk we also epoxy below thewaterline on all of our new boats.

The superstructure is molded and also madefrom hand-laid. To eliminate one of thecommon problems CHBs had during the1970s and 1960s we use a synthetic honeycomb coring material on the decks toeliminate any chance of rotting and leaking ifwater were to penetrate the decks. There issome structural plywood coring on the sidesof the superstructure where the chance ofwater penetration is very low.

Cockpit and Lazarette:

The cockpit is very large for a boat of thissize and makes an excellent place to set outa couple chairs and a small table to enjoy thescenery. Under the cockpit is a spaciouslazarette that houses the batteries and stillhas a huge amount of storage space. At theaft end of the cockpit there is a hot/coldfreshwater shower and just aft of that is a bigswim grid and fold up stainless steelswimming ladder.

On the starboard side of the door to the salonthere is a ladder leading to the expansiveflybridge. As you get onto the top deck youwill notice the huge area to lay out loungechairs or store a 10’ hard bottom guests cansit and keep the captain company. Forward ofthe helm seat is a storage locker that is about8’ wide and 3.5’ deep. Above the helm is aradar arch with plenty of room to install all ofthe electronics you would ever want.Surrounding the entire upper deck are high 11⁄4” #316 stainless steel railings that giveyou a feeling of security.

to their effect are two bulwark doors, one oneach side of the boat which makes boardingeasier. At the bow is a Vetus Windlass with1100 lbs of lifting capacity and a standard150’ of high-test galvanized chain. There is aself launching 45 lbs CQR type anchor andthat can be lowered or lifted from the bow,the inside or flybridge helm.
