International Affairs - The Royal Wedding

A big thing that has happened this year is the royal wedding of the duke and dutches of Cambridge, Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The two were married on April 29 at Westminster Abbey. There were millions around the world tuning in to nearly every channel to watch the wedding. The wedding started with the ceremony at the abbey, following with photos at Buckingham Palace. They then went out on the royal balcony and shared a romantic kiss before going back into the palace for a morning tea. They then went off to another venue for a large lunch before finishing off with a dinner at Middleton's family home. Middleton wore a stunning Alexander McQueen dress that is going to be worn by brides all over the world now. William’s younger brother, Harry, was best man while Kate’s sister Pippa was made of honour, her brother James also did the only reading at the ceremony. The day was absolutely perfect and while the two were on the balcony the first words Kate said was, “Oh wow” at the fact that all of London was flooded with people to see the newlyweds kiss. It was an absolutely stunning day that was shared all over the world.

National Affairs – AFL

The Australian Football League was established in 1896. AFL was formally known as VFL (Victorian Football League), it was renamed AFL (Australian Football League) in due to marketers to make it a National competition. When the VFL (AFL) started there were only 13 teams. In present days there are 17 teams. Adelaide Crows, Brisbane Lions, Carlton Blues, Collingwood Magpies, Essendon Bombers, Fremantle Dockers, Geelong Cats, Hawthorn Hawks, Melbourne Demons, Western Bulldogs, Richmond Tigers, North Melbourne Kangaroos, Port Adelaide Power, St. Kilda Saints, Sydney Swans, West Coast Eagles and Gold Coast Suns. These teams were all formed in 1897-2011. The newest team, Gold Coast Suns was formed at the start of 2011 and at the moment are at the bottom of the ladder. Former Geelong Cats star, Gary Ablet had made the decision to swap to the Gold Coast Suns at the start of 2011. At the moment on the ladder-

Local Affairs – Melbourne Justin Bieber Concert

On the 2nd and 3rd of May Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber entered Melbourne's stage and performed to thousands at Rod Laver Arena. Bieber wowed many with his amazing songs, emotion, fresh dance moves and a great opening act and DJ. Perhaps the best part of the first concert was when Justin bought out a bullied teen on stage, Casey Heynes. The appearance made worldwide news and the fact that Bieber is against bullying and doing something about it is very admirable. The whole arena cheered and celebrated against bullying. The sight was just incredible. On the second concert, Justin sung with just as much enthusiasm and even started to tear up while singing 'Favourite Girl’. The arena roared with excitement and during the concert Bieber made sure to point out his love of his family and some extra messages of not to text and drive. The singer has a refreshing and clean image, especially for a seventeen year old celebrity. He’s a very talented youngster and older musicians and producers are saying he’s here to stay! We here at Chatterbox, as well as millions of young Australians are hoping Justin will join us again in the next few years to come! What an inspirational singer!

Cooking A lot of you emailed us about how you love to cook but don't know any recipes. In Chatterbox there is some awesome recipes in the Cooking section. There are some things you need to know about cooking before you start. Remember safety and hygiene! Always make sure that you have washed your hands before cooking and use clean utensils. Make sure your always safe and get an adult help you to use hot or sharp objects. There are many ways to start cooking! Find a recipe that sounds scrumptious. Make sure that before you start to cook you have all of the ingredients. Some different recipes to try are cupcakes, frog in a pond, pizza, pasta, rice, fruit salad and for a challenge try cooking with meat. You can get recipes off the internet, recipe books and magazines. Cooking is a lot of fun and usually what you cook can taste delicious so have a look in the cooking section and get cooking. Sport There are so many different types of sport nowadays. The one that we are going to focus on is a type of dancing/cheerleading called Pom. Pom is a dance style in cheerleading. You hold pom poms in your hand while doing the dance. There are a lot of things about pom that are extra special. All of the moves are called 'motions' and you must always hold your motions in front of you in your motion space which is like a big bubble in front of you. Using poms can be like painting a picture while you dance, rather than you being the feature they are. Pom is always very fast and energetic and you must always smile and hold your motions extra strong. It's a great sport that keeps you healthy while also being super fun! Stationary Some of you emailed us about homework and how it can be really boring. There are a lot of fun ways to get your homework done and one way we love is by using awesome stationary! There are so many shops that have colourful, scented and designed stationary that it's easy to find them. Using fun stationary is really cool and it can make you want to do your homework as well as extra work! Imagine instead of using a normal boring pen you could be using a colourful one with pictures on that also smells amazing! We're thinking this week’s homework will smell like chocolate!

Dear Chatterbox, I have two best friends who don't get along. I want to play with them both at lunch but all they do is fight! What can I do so I can play with them? Maybe sit down with both of them and explain how you like them equally and how they would actually get along wonderfully. If this doesn't work maybe play with one of them at recess and one of them at lunch and swap it around. Banana Split Recipe Ingredients 1 banana cut lengthways. 2 scoops ice-cream (your choice of flavour) 2 table spoons delicious chocolate sauce 2 dollops fresh whipped cream Method

1. Place a sliced (lengthways) banana on a plate. 2. Top with two scoops of yummy ice-cream 3. Drizzle with chocolate sauce. 4. Finish it off by putting some whipped cream

Mini Pizzas Ingredients Mini Pizza bases Mozzarella Cheese Ham Tomato paste Pineapple Method

1. Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced. Lightly grease a large baking tray. Using a 7cm-round cutter, cut 8 rounds from pizza base. Place rounds on prepared tray.

2. Spread each round with 1/2 teaspoon tomato paste. Top with ham, pineapple and cheese. Bake for 10 minutes or until cheese has melted and base

is crisp.

Spaghetti Bolognese Ingredients

1. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add half the bacon and cook for 2 mins each side or until crisp. Transfer to a plate lined with a paper towel. Repeat with remaining bacon. Coarsely chop and set aside.

2. Cook spaghetti following packet directions, until al dente. Drain well.

3. Meanwhile, heat oil in the frying pan over high heat. Add mince and cook, uncovered, stirring with a wooden spoon, for 3-4 mins or until the mince changes colour. Pour in pasta sauce and simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 5 mins. Remove from heat.

4. Stir in the basil and half the bacon. Divide pasta among bowls and spoon over sauce. Top with remaining bacon and parmesan.

Celebrity of the Week Justin Drew Bieber is a Canadian Pop/ R&B singer-songwriter and actor. Bieber was discovered in 2008 by Scooter Braun who happened to come across Justin's videos on YouTube and later became his manager. Justin Bieber is 17 years old and at the moment dating actress, singer and entrepreneur Selena Gomez. Justin has done many tours around the world including his recent tour in Melbourne (as seen in the "Chatter Box").

Pet of the week There are four adorable nominees for this weeks pet of the week award! Zailey Zailey is a twenty year old cat who lives with a family in Melbourne. She is really old for a cat, is pure black and has big green eyes. She spends most of her day sleeping and cuddling up with her owners, what a cute cat!
