imagine walking into an old-european estate, where rich woods and textiles combine with breathtaking designs and magnificent artistry. Where every room contains the finest of tiles, flooring, cabinetry and electronics, causing your senses to stir and your imagination to take flight. And the best part of all … you don’t have to leave the country to get there.

such is the concept of the chateau Design centre, a brainchild of businessman turned dream-maker Bob moore. the chateau Design centre is an architectural marketplace showcasing hand-carved residential cabinetry, top-of-the-line design products, and home furnishings. visitors can lose themselves in French country influences, tuscan-inspired styles and Old World charm, with designs ranging from rustic casual to formal elegance.

the concept of the Design centre came to life for moore after encountering a building crisis in 2005, while creating his dream home with his wife, Brynn. they had ordered custom, hand-carved cabinetry and furniture for their kitchen and other rooms throughout their home, and after investing a substantial deposit and then suffering project delays, the couple discovered the company was near bankruptcy.

“it was a horrible position to be in,” says moore, who started investigating the cabinet company and realized that, although it was producing an exquisite product, it wasn’t being managed properly. so moore did what any sensible entrepreneur with a background in financial services would do. he created a partnership with sam hollinger of hollinger and Associates, one

of the top custom builders in Oklahoma. they leased some space and hired four of the employees.

thus was born chateau Designs, and moore developed a successful multi-location provider of fine, customized and

hand-carved cabinets and furniture. With a plant in tulsa and a family of master artisans in mexico, he developed what is now the go-to provider of high-end craftsmanship. And his brand new home became the showplace for future customers.

“i would regularly bring customers out to our home in order to show them the final product. i soon realized that they wanted to find out where we got our lighting or who provided our tile, and the idea of having designers and companies represented under one roof seemed like the next step,” moore says.

moore procured a business space in carmel, iN, and with a team of designers led by his wife, was able to transform what was once a standard storefront into a warm, welcoming design marketplace.

in November, 2009, the doors of the chateau Design centre were opened, not only fulfilling moore’s dream, but providing a one-stop experience for builders, designers and home-owners looking for unique and inspirational solutions.

the centre represents the efforts of 31 reputable, established companies that produce everything from metal works and flooring to countertops, tiles, textiles, painting, lighting and more.

“We couldn’t have realized this concept on our own,” explains moore. “We have a group of wonderful partners who share the same vision. We all want to display our products or services in a way that inspires clients, and provides a true visual representation of the possibilities,” he says.

“We dug up part of the parking lot and created an outdoor living space, called the Yorkshire gardens, complete with a pergola, patio, fireplace and lush plantings,” moore explains. the once sterile, cold interior was converted into a haven of deep colors, irresistible textures and fine-quality products. the rehabilitation did not go unnoticed, as the centre received the carmel chamber of commerce 2009 look Award for Best commercial renovation.

Once inside, visitors can explore magnificent, fully finished rooms that have been named according to their style and function, including the:

Yet to be named is a classic wine cellar, complete with custom wine racks and a wine-tasting table. throughout the centre, visitors will enjoy the sights and sounds of unique lighting and state-of-the-art electronics that complete the mood and experience.

the centre’s tuscan Butlers Kitchen is also fully functional, and can be utilized for a variety of customer events, including receptions, designer showings, cooking demonstrations, and other jointly sponsored or individually organized celebrations. in addition, the facility is available for meetings or receptions for select community groups.

“We offer the perfect atmosphere for not only clients, but for people who are looking for an unusual setting for their business or personal gathering,” says moore. “it is a multi-purpose home environment with endless possibilities and countless inspirations,” he says.
