Gifts in Memory – Emily Baverstock

On 1st January this year the life ofEmily Baverstock age 17 was cutshort. Emily had set her sights onbecoming a children’s nurse atCHASE but it was not to be.

Her sudden and untimely deathdevastated her parents Peter and Janetand her older brothers David and Tom.

Emily had completed a course inchildcare at Godalming College and wasintending to do a nursing diploma at theUniversity of Surrey. She was very keenfor one of her practical placementsduring this course to be at CHASE –where she eventually wanted to work.

Peter said: “Emily was besotted withchildren, particularly young children andanimals. She was a real outdoor girl, a bitof a tomboy and she loved ski-ing – shewas a smiley girl and very well liked byall who came into contact with her.”

Emily will not be able to support familiesherself but her parents wanted to dosomething in Emily’s memory to help.

Gifts in Memory of Emily have beenflooding in to CHASE.

Celebrity Support

Simon Cowell of the Wildlife SOStelevision programme brought somebaby animals to Christopher’s to showthe children and chat about his WildlifeAid animal rescue centre in Leatherhead.

Simon doesn’t usually take rescued babyanimals on visits, as his philosophy is torelease them back into the wild with aslittle human contact as possible. Butthere is a small window of opportunity, when the animals are very young forthem to be handled without jeopardisingtheir future.

Lucky children at Christopher’s mettwo tiny fox cubs, baby squirrels and ayoung hedgehog.

Expressions on the children’s facesbrought tears to the eyes of care team

members and parents – so a huge thankyou to Simon and Wildlife Aid fundraiser

Denise Burton, who came along tohelp out!
