And that has never been more important for many of our children as we all come to terms with the tragic death of Oscar who was about to start in year 6. Dreadful events such as this help us to put things in perspective and remember the most im- portant things in life: family, friends and love. But, for the sake of all our children, we must think to the future as this will again be another exciting year with many wonderful opportu- nities and experiences. Some we have already planned – and some we don’t even know about yet! We are welcoming new children and families to the school in Nursery and Reception; year 1 will begin learning about Who do you think you are? year 2 are Where I live; year 3 will be feeling very grown up as they start life in the juniors; year 4 are Living a Hindu life; year 5 amongst other things will have the excitement of preparing for their Isle of Wight trip later in the year and our new year 6 will be preparing for their transition to secondary school and all the special responsibilities they have as the oldest in the school. Of course before all that we have the Rugby World Cup with our links to Japan and all the opportunities to learn about this incredible country – and I’m, probably foolishly, daring to hope that this might be England’s year!

There might not have been any children at school but

our garden has continued to grow! Thank you to parents

and staff that have tended and watered the beds and

thanks to our premises team, Jim and Andy who took

care of Queen Polly and her bees producing our first

batch of honey.

I’m sure you will remember from last term that we won

the Richmond in Bloom competition and it’s also nice to

see us featured in the latest edition of Weed All About It
