THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Chartered: 3-9-89
Volume 28 issue 8 August 2016
Presidents’s Message
As summer is about half over, some of you are enjoying the open road and are seeing new or favorite places and I’m looking forward to hear about your adventures.
Most of you have heard that Loren Mitchell (Mitch) has had ankle replacement surgery and according to “Kat” he is doing well but will be awhile before he is kicking up his heels on the dance floor. He plans to have the other one replaced also. I didn’t know that they even did ankle replacements. Speedy recovery Mitch from all of us. I think that you may be stuck with a new nickname, either “Lee Majors” or the “Bionic Man”. I hope that any of you that are having health challenges are on the mend.
We have three rallys for the remainder of the year and I hope that all that can will attend and support your club and trail bosses. All of these rallys are in great locations and at the October rally we will have a general meeting.
As I have said before, we are still looking for people to step up and volunteer to be committee chair and co-chair for our 30th anniversary rally. We also need people to serve on sub-committees. Please contact me or one of the board members, as I would like to announce this at the Chula Vista meeting.
I wrote this message during the July heat wave. It is noon and 106 degrees and I envy those who are enjoying cooler locations in their RV’s.
Safe travels and good health.
Brian Forstmaier – President. The Dolphins

FROM THE EDITOR
Hello Dolphin Club Members
Our vice President Don Mruk and his lovely wife Lorrie are in Seaside Oregon on a summer trip and is
taking a few months off with his Vice President’s message. Each month Don has covered articles about the
maintenance of our motorhomes from tires to generators or batteries. Sometimes even with our preventive
maintenance we have a problem with our motorhomes being a house on wheels. Such was the case for
Sandy and I a couple of months ago as we traveled the I - 5 North towards Bakersfield. When we got to the
Grapevine Grade towards Gorman I had a loss of power from the engine and had to gear way down to make
the grade. Finally made it to the top and eventually up to Pine Flat Lake out of Fresno, CA. A friend at Pine
Flat Lake recommended taking the RV to a Chevrolet dealer in Kerman, CA. After a call to the Service
Advisor Rick Oaks we decided to take the RV to H & J Chevrolet in Kerman, Ca. The next morning early
we were on our way and I was reminded of a former boss who used to send me to jobs and he would always
say Dave when you think you have gone too far keep on going. Hence after some forty miles and two way
traffic we arrived at H & J Chevrolet in Kerman. After doing a computer analysis on the engine, a code came
up and indicated the Knock Sensor was defective. It took until late afternoon for them to obtain the sensor
and install it and while waiting we drove over to Clovis, CA and spent the afternoon with Del & Sandy
Snavely about 20 miles away from Kerman. This past week we took the motorhome up to Sequoa National
Park for a few days and all is well again. See you in Tahoe—Dave Smith - editor
Don Mruk after a long days drive
(Someone told me it was 32 miles)
Sandy & Dave Smith on a hike up to Tokapah Falls in
Sequoa National Park. About a 4 mile round trip.
