Stuck, Vietnam USA George R. Thomas, WWII Army Air Corps Doug Telgenhof, Vietnam, USN MEMBERSHIP NEWS I want to thank all the membership for entrusting and placing your faith in me to be the 99 th Commander of Post #28. It truly is an honor and privilege – I have “HUGE” shoes to fill. I especially want to thank Bob Wydeck for all his hard work and effort he put in this past year as the 98 th Commander. Make sure you give him the respect and thanks due for all he accomplished. I would also like to thank our outgoing member of the Executive Committee, Past Commander Ed DeKoekkoek, for the last five years of hard work and commitment, and welcome our new Executive Committee member, 2 nd Vice Commander John Bilski. We are the largest American Legion Post in the State of Michigan, but in my mind we are most importantly the BEST Post in the State of Michigan. We have arrived here because of all the hard work of our Past Commanders, Legion Members, Auxiliary, Sons of American Legion, and the Riders who contribute and volunteer so much of their time it cannot be listed here. Let us not forget our Post Manager Tina Davis and all her staff for making this a pleasant and fun place to visit. I have a lot to learn but I know that through the assistance and guidance of the Past Commanders we will continue to be the BEST Post in Michigan. August is our busiest month. The Coast Guard Festival brings us the opportunity to shine in this community. To make this happen we need volunteers. My phone number and email address is posted on the newsletter. Please reach out to me, or any of our members if you can contribute any of your time. Volunteering for dinners, burger night, or any committees that you may be able to contribute is needed; any little bit helps – “For the Good of the Legion”. Once again I thank all of you for this opportunity to serve as your 99 th Commander. Chris Jarvis, Post 28 99 th Commander Please remember the following members in your prayers and thoughts, and perhaps make an encouraging call or visit if you can. If you know of anyone who should be added to this list, or would benefit from a call from me as their Chaplain, please let me know @ [email protected], or 616.502.1555. In His and Your Service, Duane "Smitty" Smith, Chaplain Vince Antonich Chris Whalen Carl Kuzyk Darryl Meyer Charles Davis Dewie Jordan Bob Dougall Tom Streng Mike Yost Derk Dornbos SICK CALL *Due to the early printing of the August newsletter, new members and transfers from July will be listed in the September issue.
