The annual Morgan Auto Group Charity Polo Classic is a premier event for those looking for a little bit of the usual social activities, (luncheons, auctions, fashion shows, etc.) with an exciting addition of the classic game of polo. The Charity Polo Classic will be gracing Plant City with its presence on March 21 at DI Polo Tour. Philanthropists Tina Hunter Greene, Chris Gannon, Patrick Moraites and Andy Traenkne established the event in 2012. The four were seeking a creative means of entertaining guests while also benefitting the community. Gannon, a polo player, was raised around the game. His father, Tim Gannon, was inducted into the Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame in 2013. “All of us are very philanthropic and were trying to come up with a creative, new event,” Greene said, and hence, Charity Polo Classic was born. “It has been called the greatest networking event in Tampa Bay,” Greene said. “Plenty of time to mingle with everyone in a beautiful setting.” Kelly Ross, the event chairman gave a lot of great information about CPC. “I am responsible for maintaining a high level of expectations while keeping it fun, since all members are volunteers.” Their goal for Charity Polo Classic IV is to raise $200,000 for The Children’s Cancer Center & Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS). Brett Morgan of the Morgan Auto Group chose BBBS, as he himself is a Big Brother and very involved with the organization, Ross said. “They support in every way possible. They are an amazing title sponsor,” Ross said. BBBS helps the event financially, with advertising and with social media. During the first 3 years, CPC raised over $250,000 for benefitting charities, according to Tina Hunter Greene. Financially it has grown 200% which has all been donated to the Charities of choice. With an expected attendance of around 800, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy A Taste of Tampa Bay’s various participation restaurants, as well as a Chill Lounge with cigars, auctions and an elegant fashion show by Mis En Chic. The day of the event, attendees will show off their most outrageous hats and compete for the Hat Contest, sponsored by Suntrust. Arturo Fuente Cigar Factory will also be providing premium cigars to attendees of this premium event. “The Charity Polo Classic is a chance for every female to express her inner Southern Belle,” Greene said. Looking for something to wear? Which comes first, the hat or the dress? Tina Hunter Greene says the choice is entirely up to you. Continued on P. 78 By Alexis Minieri

CHARItY POLO CLASSIC

Finally, it is time for the premier

charity event of the year!

“Plenty of time to mingle with everyone in a beautiful setting.”

Kelly Ross, the event chairman gave a lot of great information about CPC.

During the first 3 years, CPC raised over $250,000 for benefitting charities,

according to Tina Hunter Greene.

Think Garden Party Chic when choosing an outfit for this event. Dress hats are a must, consider the “Pretty Woman” or the Kentucky Derby when deciding upon one. All attendees

are encouraged to participate in the Half Time Divot Stomp, therefore, avoid stilettos at all costs. Instead, sport some trendy flats or wedges that correspond with the look. Bright colors are also encouraged to add to the warm and lively atmosphere. Men, think southern gentleman when deciding upon a look. Lightweight, seersucker suits work best at a polo event, along with cotton polos or embroidered blazers. Be brave and look the part by

wearing bright colored pants or a bow tie. Try tassel, slip on shoes or loafers and a straw hat to complete the look.

“Bright colors, bow ties, hats (straw ones) — have come to redefine how we catch sunshine and a breeze at a polo match,” Greene said.
